The Sail Fossil revives into Amaura, which evolves into Aurorus at level 39 during the nighttime.
Playthrough Notes
A Slow special attacker with broad coverage.
Aurorus offers strong special attacks and interesting Ice coverage, but its defensive typing gives it many weaknesses, including four-times weaknesses to Fighting and Steel.
Attack from favorable matchups and avoid leaving it in against physical Fighting, Steel, or Ground users. Refrigerate can turn Normal-type attacks into stronger Ice-type attacks. However it's limited learnset means it has a hard time making good use of this ability in most playthroughs.
More specialized than Tyrunt; valuable when the team specifically needs Ice and special damage.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths: Good Special Attack and high HP. Ice is a stong attacking type. Refrigerate can turn Normal-type attacks into stronger Ice-type attacks. Can learn varied special coverage.
Weaknesses: Four-times weak to Fighting and Steel. Also weak to Water, Grass, Ground, and Rock. Slow. Rock has few special attacking moves.
Choice Context
Choose the Jaw Fossil for straightforward physical power. Choose the Sail Fossil for special Ice coverage.
Jaw Fossil is usually easier for a normal playthrough.
