The Claw Fossil revives into Anorith, which evolves into Armaldo at level 40.

Playthrough Notes

Slow, powerful physical attacker.

Armaldo has strong Attack (125) and Defense (100), giving it an easy-to-understand role in a normal playthrough: survive a physical hit and hit back hard.

Give it reliable physical attacks and use it against opponents that cannot exploit its Water, Rock, or Steel weaknesses.

Usually the easier choice for a normal playthrough.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths: High physical Attack. Good physical Defense. Useful Bug and Rock damage. Broad physical coverage through TMs in many games.

Weaknesses: 45 Speed makes it terribly slow. Weak to Water, Rock, and Steel. Special Defense is less impressive. Must reach level 40 to evolve.

Choice Context

Choose the Root Fossil for durability and recovery. Choose the Claw Fossil for faster, more direct physical offense.

Claw Fossil is usually more straightforward for a normal playthrough, but Root Fossil can be more useful if the team needs a defensive wall or recovery.
