Using Anorith in a Playthrough
Anorith is revived from the Claw Fossil and evolves into Armaldo at level 40, producing a slow but powerful Rock/Bug physical attacker with base 125 Attack and 100 Defense. Generation III is unusually favorable to Armaldo's offensive typing because both Rock and Bug attacks are physical, allowing both STAB types to use its strongest stat immediately, although the available Bug moves in that era are often less impressive than the Rock options. Battle Armor prevents critical hits and provides useful consistency, while later Swift Swim can double Speed in rain and partially solve Armaldo's extremely low base 45 Speed. Rock Slide or Stone Edge, X-Scissor, Earthquake, Brick Break or Superpower, Aqua Jet, Knock Off, Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, and Swords Dance can support offensive or utility sets depending on the game. Rock/Bug carries weaknesses to Water, Rock, and Steel and surprisingly few resistances, so despite good physical Defense Armaldo is usually safer when attacking known targets than when acting as a general defensive wall.
Anorith in Competitive Pokémon
Armaldo has generally lived in lower competitive tiers, where base 125 Attack, base 100 Defense, Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Knock Off, and strong Rock STAB give it several practical roles. Battle Armor prevents critical hits and adds defensive consistency, while Swift Swim can double its low Speed under rain and turn an otherwise lumbering attacker into a temporary offensive threat. Its most common competitive identity has been that of a bulky offensive spinner or hazard setter, using Stone Edge or Rock Blast for damage while removing opposing entry hazards. The problem is its own typing: Rock/Bug is weak to Water, Rock, and Steel, offers very few useful resistances, and leaves Armaldo vulnerable to Stealth Rock even when it is supposed to be the team's hazard remover. As later Smogon analyses emphasize, stronger spinners and Rock-types often outclass it, but its combination of high Attack, respectable physical bulk, and utility has kept it functional in lower formats rather than competitively irrelevant.
Anorith in Nuzlockes
Armaldo can be a strong Nuzlocke attacker because base 125 Attack gives it immediate knockout power and Battle Armor eliminates the possibility of enemy critical hits. That critical-hit immunity is especially valuable in permadeath play because it makes damage calculations much more predictable and prevents a supposedly safe physical matchup from suddenly doubling in danger. The line does not evolve until level 40, however, and Anorith is less durable while being obtained only through the Claw Fossil in many games. Armaldo's base 45 Speed means it usually takes a hit first, and Water, Rock, and Steel attacks target genuine weaknesses despite its sturdy shell; special Water attacks are particularly uncomfortable because Special Defense is only base 80. Used as a slow physical breaker against known opponents rather than a universal tank, Armaldo combines reliable damage with unusually valuable protection from critical hits.

ANORITH was regenerated from a prehistoric fossil. This primitive POKéMON once lived in warm seas. It grips its prey firmly between its two large claws.
ANORITH is said to be a type of POKéMON predecessor, with eight wings at the sides of its body. This POKéMON swam in the primordial sea by undulating these eight wings.
It was resurrected from a fossil using the power of science. It swims by undulating the eight wings at its sides. They were feet that adapted to life in the sea.
It is a kind of POKéMON progenitor. It uses its extending claws to catch prey hiding among rocks on the seafloor.
A Pokémon ancestor that was reanimated from a fossil. It lived in the sea and hunted with claws.
An ancestral Pokémon that lived in the ocean. Over time, its eight feet transformed into wings.

When restored Anorith are released into the ocean, they don’t thrive, because the water composition has changed since their era.
This is one kind of primeval bug Pokémon. With eight wings, it could apparently swim a lot faster than you’d expect.
This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. Anorith lived in the ocean about 100,000,000 years ago, hunting with its pair of claws.
Anorith can swim swiftly by pulling its eight wings through the water like oars on a boat. This Pokémon is an ancestor of modern bug Pokémon.

Anorith Biology and Behavior
Anorith was a marine arthropod that inhabited warm seas roughly 100 million years ago and is regarded in the Pokemon world as an ancestor of modern Bug-type Pokemon. Eight wing-like structures along its sides functioned like the oars of a boat, propelling it rapidly through primordial seas while its two large forward claws seized prey hiding among rocks. Those side structures are described as limbs that became adapted for swimming, preserving evidence of the evolutionary transition represented by this ancient species. Although science can restore Anorith from Claw Fossils, released specimens do not thrive in today's oceans because the chemical composition of seawater has changed substantially since the era in which they evolved. Anorith is therefore one of the rare restored fossils for which revival recreates the animal successfully without recreating the environment its biology actually expects.

Anorith Size Comparison: BETA
Anorith is listed at 2' 4" (0.7 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Anorith currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
