Feebas's Weaknesses and Resistances

Evolution Chain

Feebas evolves into Milotic by raising its Beauty and leveling up or by trading while holding a Prism Scale.

Feebas Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Feebas in a Playthrough

The Feebas line has one of the most dramatic transformations in the series: Feebas itself has a Magikarp-like base-stat total of 200, while Milotic becomes a powerful pure Water Pokemon with 95 HP, 100 Special Attack, 125 Special Defense, and useful base 81 Speed. The greater obstacle is usually obtaining and evolving Feebas rather than training it. In the original Hoenn games Feebas appears only on a tiny number of specific fishing tiles on Route 119, and its traditional evolution requires raising its Beauty condition high enough before leveling; from Generation V onward, trading Feebas while it holds a Prism Scale provides an additional evolution method. Once evolved, Milotic is immediately useful as a durable special attacker and bulky Water-type, with Surf or Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Recover, and status or coverage options giving it excellent longevity and broad story utility. Marvel Scale raises Milotic's Defense by 50 percent while it has a major status condition, making an already specially bulky Pokemon surprisingly difficult to remove physically, while the later ability Competitive instead raises Special Attack sharply when an opponent lowers one of its stats. Pure Water typing leaves only Electric and Grass weaknesses, so the line rewards the unusually large investment required to obtain Milotic with one of the safest and most generally useful final evolutions in Hoenn.

Feebas in Competitive Pokémon

Milotic was a genuine ADV OU staple and one of the generation's major bulky Water-types, competing with Swampert and Suicune through a different combination of Recover, strong Special Defense, usable Special Attack, and Marvel Scale. Recover is central to that identity because it gives Milotic reliable instant healing without requiring Rest, while Surf, Ice Beam, Toxic, Hypnosis, and Refresh or other utility let it pressure opponents rather than simply absorb attacks. Marvel Scale can raise Defense when Milotic is statused, making burns or poison less straightforward methods of breaking it and allowing specially defensive sets to become unexpectedly sturdy on both sides. Later generations pushed Milotic out of top-tier singles as power creep and competition from other bulky Water-types increased, but it remained a strong defensive presence in UU and RU environments and gained Competitive as an alternative ability. Competitive is especially notable in doubles and VGC because opposing Intimidate can trigger a two-stage Special Attack boost, turning a defensive-looking Milotic into an immediate offensive threat and discouraging one of doubles' most common forms of physical control.

Feebas in Nuzlockes

Milotic is one of the strongest Nuzlocke Water-types available if the player can actually obtain and evolve Feebas, but the encounter and evolution mechanics are often the hardest part of using the line. Feebas itself is extremely weak and should generally be trained through safe methods rather than exposed to serious battles, while Beauty requirements, Prism Scale availability, and trade requirements vary substantially by game. Milotic's 95 HP and 125 Special Defense provide an excellent margin for error against special attacks, Recover can erase ordinary chip damage, and pure Water typing leaves only Grass and Electric as weaknesses. Marvel Scale is especially valuable in permadeath play because an accidental burn, poison, paralysis, or sleep can make Milotic physically tougher rather than simply weakening it, although residual status damage still has to be managed. Once evolved, Milotic is a dependable long-term team member that can survive neutral hits, heal reliably, and handle many bosses safely; the line's risk is concentrated overwhelmingly in acquisition and the vulnerable Feebas stage rather than in Milotic itself.

Oak's Notes

Beauty Evolution

In games before Prism Scale evolution, Feebas evolves into Milotic by raising its Beauty condition to 170 and then leveling up. See the Evolving Feebas into Milotic via Beauty guide for Dry berries, Pokeblocks, Poffins, nature preferences, and reset planning.

Catching Feebas

Feebas has different catching methods depending on the game, including Route 119 tile hunting, Mt. Coronet BF1 fishing, and later-generation shortcuts. Start with the Catching Feebas: Every Generation guide hub for links to each detailed guide.

Feebas Biology and Behavior

Feebas is famous for its ragged fins and shabby appearance, but beneath that unimpressive exterior is an extraordinarily hardy fish capable of surviving in oceans, rivers, weed-choked ponds, polluted water, and even habitats containing very little water. It eats almost anything and possesses enough natural vitality that researchers study the species specifically to understand how such an apparently frail animal survives under poor environmental conditions. Predators often ignore Feebas because it appears unappetizing, while many Trainers overlook it for the same aesthetic reason, allowing populations to grow despite the species being slow and comparatively easy to catch once located. Feebas are actually numerous but tend to cluster together in very specific places, explaining the strange combination of ecological abundance and notorious difficulty finding them in several games. Prism Scales can occasionally form naturally on the body, an especially fitting biological link to one of the methods by which this deliberately unglamorous Pokemon transforms into Milotic.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.

Feebas currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
