Jynx's Weaknesses and Resistances

Evolution Chain

Smoochum evolves into Jynx at level 30.

Jynx Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Jynx in a Playthrough

The Smoochum line develops into Jynx, a fast special Ice/Psychic attacker with excellent offensive typing for several important story matchups. Jynx's high Special Attack and Speed let it remove many Grass-, Poison-, Fighting-, Flying-, Ground-, and Dragon-type opponents before they retaliate, while Lovely Kiss can disable targets that cannot be safely knocked out. Its extremely low physical Defense is the central weakness, making unexpected physical priority or coverage potentially lethal. Smoochum itself is frail and generally something to evolve quickly at level 30.

Jynx in Competitive Pokémon

Jynx has historically functioned as a fast special attacker and sleep user. Lovely Kiss can create a setup or attacking opportunity, while strong Ice/Psychic STAB and options such as Nasty Plot, Substitute, or Dry Skin in applicable generations provide offensive and defensive flexibility. Its physical fragility, Stealth Rock weakness, and competition from stronger Ice- and Psychic-types have usually confined it to lower tiers, but reliable access to sleep gives it a niche even when its raw stats are outclassed.

Jynx in Nuzlockes

Jynx can be extremely effective in planned Nuzlocke boss fights because its Speed, Ice STAB, Psychic STAB, and sleep access line up well against several common late-game threats, including Dragon- and Poison-based teams. That offensive safety disappears quickly if Jynx is struck by a strong physical move, so it rewards exact matchup knowledge more than blind switching. In Kanto it arrives relatively late but can still contribute heavily to the Elite Four. Smoochum's much weaker stats make the line significantly riskier before evolution.

Jynx Biology and Behavior

Jynx communicates primarily through rhythmic, dance-like movements and also possesses a complex vocal language that sounds similar to human speech but has not been deciphered. Its movements can cause nearby people to begin dancing along involuntarily. Regional material also describes especially precise dancing and beautiful voices in some populations, and parts of Galar have historically feared or revered Jynx as the 'Queen of Ice.'

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
