Naclstack Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Naclstack in a Playthrough
Nacli is widespread across Paldea, evolves into Naclstack at level 24, and reaches Garganacl at level 38, making the entire line straightforward to obtain and fully evolve during a normal Scarlet or Violet story. Garganacl combines base 100 HP, 130 Defense, and 90 Special Defense with a respectable base 100 Attack, but its base 35 Speed means it is built to absorb attacks rather than move first. Purifying Salt is the defining Ability, preventing nonvolatile status and effectively halving damage from Ghost-type attacks; Sturdy is an excellent alternate story Ability that can guarantee survival from full HP, while Clear Body is the Hidden Ability and prevents opponents from lowering its stats. Salt Cure is extraordinarily useful as soon as Naclstack learns it: in Scarlet and Violet it is a perfectly accurate 40-power Rock attack that continues removing one eighth of the target's maximum HP each turn, doubled to one quarter against Water- and Steel-types, and Garganacl can pair it with Recover for extremely durable progress. Rock typing still gives Garganacl five common weaknesses—Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel—so its numerical bulk should not be mistaken for universal safety, particularly against special Water and Grass attacks. Body Press works well with its enormous Defense, while Earthquake, Rock STAB, Curse, Iron Defense, and Stealth Rock support either offensive or defensive approaches; Terastallization is especially useful for escaping Rock's weak defensive profile. Careful is excellent for balancing Garganacl's already huge physical Defense with greater special resilience, while Impish strengthens physical-wall and Body Press-oriented roles.
Naclstack in Competitive Pokémon
Garganacl is the clear competitive standout of this batch and is currently an SV OU Pokémon on Smogon, a status rooted in an unusually effective combination of bulk, recovery, ability utility, and unavoidable residual pressure. Purifying Salt denies ordinary status-based wear while reducing Ghost damage, and Salt Cure allows Garganacl to make progress even when its direct attacks are weak; in Scarlet and Violet the residual damage is one eighth of maximum HP per turn and one quarter against Water- and Steel-types. Stealth Rock, Recover, Protect, Curse, Iron Defense, Body Press, and Earthquake have all supported different variants, allowing Garganacl to serve as a wall, hazard setter, attrition engine, or late-game win condition rather than occupying only one defensive slot. Terastallization has been fundamental to that success because types such as Water or Fairy can replace Rock's five weaknesses with a much safer defensive profile while Garganacl retains Purifying Salt and Salt Cure. Counterplay exists through overwhelming wallbreakers, Taunt, favorable Terastallization, and tools such as Covert Cloak that can negate Salt Cure's secondary effect, so its reputation does not make it invulnerable. Its competitive history is also a good example of why generation-specific mechanics must be separated: newer Pokémon Champions data uses a weakened Salt Cure residual effect compared with Scarlet and Violet, so the established SV OU pressure should not simply be copied unchanged into that ruleset. Careful is the most common defensive Nature for balancing its special side, while Impish is appropriate for dedicated physical or Body Press sets.
Naclstack in Nuzlockes
The Nacli line is one of Paldea's strongest Nuzlocke defensive investments because the encounter is broadly available, both evolutions occur at ordinary levels, and Naclstack already gains several of the tools that define Garganacl. Purifying Salt eliminates one of permadeath play's largest sources of variance by preventing ordinary status conditions, while Sturdy can provide emergency one-hit insurance when the Pokémon begins at full HP; a specific individual has only one Ability at a time, so these benefits should not be conflated. Salt Cure is especially safe for a long battle because it is perfectly accurate, has no recoil, and keeps damaging a target after the initial hit, while Recover gives Garganacl reliable in-battle healing and allows it to exploit that residual damage. Its immense physical Defense and solid special bulk create a large margin for error, and Body Press can convert that Defense into dependable offense without asking Garganacl to sacrifice durability. The principal danger is Rock typing: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel attacks are all super effective, and base 35 Speed means Garganacl will usually have to survive those attacks rather than outrun their users. Players should therefore resist the temptation to leave it in simply because its HP bar looks sturdy, especially against special Water- or Grass-type coverage, and should favor reliable moves over lower-accuracy Rock options when a miss would risk a death. With those matchup checks respected, Garganacl's status protection, recovery, residual damage, and sheer bulk make it one of the safest long-term members available in a Scarlet or Violet Nuzlocke.

This Pokémon dry cures its prey by spraying salt over them. The curing process steals away the water in the prey’s body.
It compresses rock salt inside its body and shoots out hardened salt pellets with enough force to perforate an iron sheet.

Naclstack Biology and Behavior
Naclstack is a quadrupedal mass of block-like rock salt whose legs appear physically disconnected from its body while remaining fixed beneath it. It compresses salt inside its body into hard pellets and launches them with enough force to punch through an iron sheet. The species also sprays salt over prey to draw out moisture and dry-cure it, although Naclstack is notably forgetful and may lose track of the prey afterward; the same absent-mindedness can make it forget a Trainer's commands. Bits of salt remain in its footprints, and people collect these grains for use as sandwich seasoning.

Naclstack Size Comparison: BETA
Naclstack is listed at 2' 0" (0.6 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
