Using Oricorio Pau in a Playthrough
Oricorio does not evolve, but its four Styles effectively let one team slot change secondary role by using Red, Yellow, Pink, or Purple Nectar: Baile is Fire/Flying, Pom-Pom is Electric/Flying, Pa'u is Psychic/Flying, and Sensu is Ghost/Flying. All four share the same 75/70/70/98/70/93 base stats and the same core special-attacking identity, while Revelation Dance becomes the user's primary type and therefore supplies a reliable 90-power STAB attack that automatically follows the chosen Style. In Alola, Pom-Pom is available very early at Melemele Meadow and the other wild Styles appear on later islands, while Nectar lets the player deliberately convert between them; Scarlet and Violet likewise allow form switching with Nectar even though only some Styles are naturally encountered in the base region. Pom-Pom is often the safest all-purpose form because Electric/Flying has only Ice and Rock weaknesses and a Ground immunity, while Sensu offers three immunities to Normal, Fighting, and Ground; Baile supplies useful Fire offense but suffers a severe 4× Rock weakness, and Pa'u trades those advantages for Psychic STAB. Generation IX dramatically improved the line by giving Oricorio Quiver Dance, allowing one turn to raise Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed; earlier games instead leaned more on Calm Mind, Roost, and direct attacking. Timid is valuable when preserving Oricorio's good but not elite base 93 Speed matters, while Modest is a legitimate alternative on bulkier or Quiver Dance sets that can obtain Speed boosts after setup.
Oricorio Pau in Competitive Pokémon
Oricorio's competitive history is unusually form-dependent because every Style has identical stats and movepool access but a different primary typing. In Generation VII, Pom-Pom and Sensu were the most respected lower-tier variants: Pom-Pom's Electric/Flying typing offered excellent defensive efficiency, while Sensu's Ghost/Flying typing supplied Normal and Fighting immunities and even let it block Rapid Spin; Baile and Pa'u were both placed in ZU and were commonly outclassed by those two alternatives. Baile's most damaging historical flaw was its 4× Stealth Rock weakness before Heavy-Duty Boots existed, while Pa'u lacked enough unique defensive or offensive value to justify choosing it over stronger Psychic-types or the better Oricorio forms. Generation IX was the pivotal buff because Oricorio gained Quiver Dance; combined with Roost and Revelation Dance, that move transformed the species from a mostly Calm Mind-based lower-tier utility attacker into a much more dangerous setup sweeper. Current Scarlet/Violet tiering reflects the distinction between forms: Pom-Pom is RUBL and Sensu NUBL, while Baile and Pa'u are ZUBL, with Pom-Pom and Sensu again benefiting most from their typings. Dancer is situational in singles but can immediately copy another Pokémon's dance move, making it far more tactically interesting in doubles or against opposing setup; Terastallization adds another unusual interaction because Revelation Dance follows Oricorio's current primary type after Terastallizing.
Oricorio Pau in Nuzlockes
Oricorio's greatest Nuzlocke strength is flexibility: when the necessary Nectar is available, the same surviving individual can change typing before a dangerous boss instead of requiring the player to catch and train a replacement. Pom-Pom is usually the lowest-risk default because it has only two weaknesses and a Ground immunity, while Sensu can create completely free switches into Normal-, Fighting-, and Ground-type attacks if the opponent's coverage is known. Baile should be handled more cautiously around Rock coverage because Fire/Flying takes 4× damage from Rock, and Pa'u has five common weaknesses despite useful Fighting and Ground matchups. Base 75/70/70 bulk is serviceable rather than sturdy, so Oricorio should not be asked to absorb strong neutral physical hits merely because it has Roost. In Generation IX, Quiver Dance can turn a favorable matchup into a sweep while also raising Special Defense, but repeated setup still exposes Oricorio to critical hits and unexpected physical coverage; one safe boost is usually preferable to greedily maximizing stats. Revelation Dance's perfect accuracy and automatic form-matched typing are valuable for reducing move-selection and accuracy variance, while Timid can preserve more natural outspeeds before any setup has occurred.

Oricorio Pau Biology and Behavior
Pa'u Style Oricorio is associated with Akala Island and, in the modern Terarium, the Coastal Biome; Pink Nectar produces its pink coloration and Psychic/Flying state. Its temperament is comparatively laid-back and can make it difficult to handle, and it may become so absorbed in dancing that it ignores its Trainer's instructions. The dance itself focuses Oricorio's mind and increases its psychic power, and Alolan tradition describes the performance as an offering of thanks to a guardian deity. In Paldea, the airy dance is practiced or admired as a means of maintaining health, extending the form's cultural role beyond battle.

Oricorio Pau Size Comparison: BETA
Oricorio Pau is listed at 2' 0" (0.6 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Oricorio Pau currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
