Sentret Sentret Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Sentret in a Playthrough
The Sentret line is an early-game Normal family whose main strengths are accessibility, an early evolution, useful Speed, and an unusually broad utility movepool rather than exceptional battle stats. Sentret evolves into Furret at level 15, giving the player a fully evolved Pokemon very early, and Furret's respectable Speed and usable Attack let it handle ordinary trainers efficiently during the first portion of a playthrough. Its wide move compatibility has also made it a convenient user of field and coverage moves across several generations, including options such as Surf, Strength, Cut, Dig, elemental coverage, and later U-turn, although its low Special Attack means not every coverage option is equally effective. Furret's biggest problem is that its modest overall stats become increasingly noticeable as stronger Pokemon appear, so it commonly shifts from an early-game attacker into a flexible utility Pokemon or team placeholder later in the story. Pure Normal typing keeps its defensive profile simple with a Ghost immunity and only a Fighting weakness, but its mediocre defenses prevent it from functioning as a true tank.
Sentret in Competitive Pokémon
Furret has spent most of competitive Pokemon in the lowest tiers because its balanced-but-modest stats leave it outclassed by stronger Normal-types as either an attacker or defensive Pokemon. In Generation II it could attempt Curse sets using strong Normal STAB and coverage such as Shadow Ball, but setting up reduced the value of its good Speed and its limited bulk made completing a sweep unreliable. Later generations gave Furret additional utility through moves such as U-turn, Trick, Knock Off, Baton Pass, and Frisk, allowing it to scout or disrupt opponents, but these tools have rarely been enough to establish a durable niche. Its base 90 Speed is its standout conventional stat, yet base 76 Attack is only moderate and its defenses are too weak for repeated switching, leaving Furret primarily a lower-tier utility option rather than a serious offensive threat.
Sentret in Nuzlockes
Sentret can be a useful early Nuzlocke encounter because it evolves at level 15 and quickly becomes faster and sturdier than many unevolved Pokemon encountered on the opening routes. Furret's pure Normal typing is easy to plan around, its Ghost immunity can create completely safe switches against predictable Ghost attacks, and its broad movepool lets it cover missing team roles when encounter luck has been poor. The line's weakness is long-term scaling: Furret's defenses and Attack are merely average, so neutral hits that were manageable early in the run become much more dangerous against stronger mid- and late-game opponents. Its good Speed can reduce risk by allowing it to finish weakened targets before they move, but Furret should not be relied on to absorb strong unknown attacks. As a result, it is often most valuable as an adaptable early-to-midgame team member that can later transition into a utility role rather than as a Pokemon expected to carry the endgame.

Sentret Biology and Behavior
Sentret is an extremely cautious and social Pokemon that frequently balances upright on its tail to gain a better view of the surrounding area. Groups maintain a constant watch for danger, and a Sentret is reluctant to sleep unless another member of its group remains awake as a lookout; individuals separated from their companions can become too frightened to rest at all. When danger is detected, Sentret warns the others with piercing cries and by striking its tail against the ground. The species is most commonly associated with temperate grasslands, where its elevated lookout posture helps compensate for its small size.

Sentret Size Comparison: BETA
Sentret is listed at 2' 7" (0.8 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Sentret currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
