Tentacruel
Tentacruel Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Tentacruel in a Playthrough
The Tentacool line develops into a fast and exceptionally specially bulky Water/Poison Pokemon that performs well as both an attacker and defensive pivot. Tentacruel's Water STAB is dependable throughout the series, while Poison STAB, Ice coverage, and later utility moves allow it to handle more than just Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types. Its high Special Defense lets it survive many special attacks that would threaten other Water-types, while its Speed allows it to act before many bulky opponents. Tentacool is also frequently abundant in ocean routes, making the line easy to obtain, although its Ground, Electric, and Psychic weaknesses must be respected.
Tentacruel in Competitive Pokémon
Tentacruel has historically functioned as a fast defensive Water/Poison Pokemon with significant hazard utility. Rapid Spin allows it to remove entry hazards, while Toxic Spikes can pressure opposing teams and Tentacruel's Poison typing allows it to absorb opposing Toxic Spikes simply by entering the field in formats where those mechanics apply. Its excellent Special Defense, useful resistances, and access to moves such as Scald have allowed it to check several special and mixed attackers while avoiding complete passivity. Weak physical Defense and a lack of consistently strong recovery limit its longevity, but the combination of Speed, special bulk, typing, and hazard control has given it a durable competitive niche.
Tentacruel in Nuzlockes
Tentacruel is a particularly reliable Nuzlocke Water-type because it combines good Speed with exceptional Special Defense, allowing it to both attack first and survive many special hits when it cannot secure an immediate knockout. FireRed and LeafGreen community analysis rates it among the better available Water-types, specifically highlighting its Speed, special bulk, useful Poison typing in Kanto, and access to coverage such as Giga Drain. Its physical Defense is less impressive, and Ground moves require more caution than they would for a pure Water-type. Because Tentacool is commonly encountered on ocean routes in many games, the line can also provide a relatively dependable replacement when other Water encounters have been lost.

Tentacruel Biology and Behavior
Tentacruel possesses up to eighty extensible tentacles that can absorb water, lengthen dramatically, and spread into a net around prey before delivering immobilizing poison. Most of these tentacles are normally kept short and hidden, and individuals gradually lose tentacles as they age. The red orbs on Tentacruel's body glow when it is excited or agitated and are used to communicate with others, including flashing warnings of danger. Large groups of Tentacruel can drive fish Pokemon away from entire areas, while individual Tentacruel normally inhabit underwater rock formations throughout the ocean.

Tentacruel Size Comparison: BETA
Tentacruel is listed at 5' 3" (1.6 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
