Beartic Beartic Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Beartic in a Playthrough
Cubchoo evolves into Beartic at level 37, producing a slow but powerful pure Ice physical attacker. Beartic originally had base 110 Attack in Generations V and VI, but this increased to 130 from Generation VII onward, greatly improving its wallbreaking ability. Icicle Crash, Ice Punch, Aqua Jet, Superpower or Close Combat in later games, Earthquake, Play Rough, Swords Dance, and coverage such as Rock Slide give it several useful physical options. Snow Cloak can increase evasion in hail, Slush Rush from Generation VII onward doubles Speed in hail or snow, and the Hidden Ability Swift Swim doubles Speed in rain, giving Beartic unusual access to two different weather-based Speed boosts in later generations. Its base 50 Speed is poor without weather and pure Ice provides only an Ice resistance while leaving Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel weaknesses. Adamant maximizes damage, while Jolly can be worthwhile on Slush Rush or Swift Swim sets where every extra Speed point improves sweeping potential.
Beartic in Competitive Pokémon
Beartic was a modest lower-tier attacker in BW, where base 110 Attack and very low Speed made it difficult to distinguish from stronger or faster Ice-types. Its competitive ceiling improved in Generation VII when its Attack rose to 130 and it gained access to Slush Rush in addition to the Hidden Ability Swift Swim. That unusual combination lets Beartic function as a physical sweeper under either hail or rain, using Swords Dance, Icicle Crash, Superpower, and coverage to exploit the doubled Speed. Smogon's SM analysis still places it in ZU and notes that even under weather, faster Choice Scarf users can revenge kill it, while pure Ice typing and mediocre bulk make setup opportunities difficult to find. Beartic is therefore best understood as a specialized weather abuser with genuine offensive power rather than a broadly splashable attacker. The stat buff made it much more threatening, but it did not solve its dependence on team support or its poor defensive typing.
Beartic in Nuzlockes
Beartic can hit extremely hard in a Nuzlocke, especially from Generation VII onward with base 130 Attack, but its pure Ice typing gives it very little defensive margin. Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel attacks are all super effective, and base 50 Speed means Beartic usually takes a hit before attacking unless Slush Rush or Swift Swim is active. Aqua Jet can safely finish weakened targets before they move, while Icicle Crash is powerful but its 90 percent accuracy introduces more risk than Ice Punch when the extra damage is unnecessary. Weather can make Beartic much safer by doubling Speed, but depending on weather also consumes setup or team-building resources. Adamant is excellent when speed control is already supplied, while Jolly is preferable if outspeeding a specific threat prevents a dangerous retaliation.

Beartic Biology and Behavior
Beartic can freeze its breath at will, creating fangs and claws of ice hard enough to rival steel. It is an excellent swimmer in cold northern seas and can freeze the ocean surface into pathways, or create floating ice so it can rest when tired. Captured prey may be frozen for preservation rather than eaten immediately. Beartic has a fierce reputation that earned it the nickname 'Snow-White Demon,' but it is notably protective toward Cubchoo and will defend younger members of its species.

Beartic Size Comparison: BETA
Beartic is listed at 8' 6" (2.6 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
