Ditto Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Ditto in a Playthrough
Ditto has almost no conventional battle identity of its own because Transform copies the opponent's species, typing, non-HP stats, stat changes, and moves while Ditto retains its own HP. Without Imposter, Ditto normally spends a turn using Transform and can take damage before it has copied anything, making it awkward and risky in ordinary story battles. The Hidden Ability Imposter changes this completely by transforming automatically upon entry, although availability is generation- and encounter-dependent. Outside battle, Ditto's ability to breed with an enormous range of Pokemon gives it far greater practical value than its story-combat performance suggests.
Ditto in Competitive Pokémon
Imposter gives Ditto a unique competitive niche as an anti-setup Pokemon and revenge killer. By automatically copying an opposing sweeper's statistics and boosts, a Choice Scarf Ditto can often outspeed and defeat the same Pokemon that just set up, forcing opponents to account for their own win conditions being copied. This role is unusually format-resistant because it depends on the opponent's strength rather than Ditto's base offenses. Standard non-Imposter Ditto is dramatically less effective because it must survive a turn before transforming.
Ditto in Nuzlockes
Ordinary Ditto is risky in Nuzlockes because low base HP, the need to spend a turn transforming, and dependence on the opponent's moveset create unnecessary uncertainty. Imposter Ditto is much safer because it enters already transformed and can exploit a powerful opponent's own stats and coverage, but Hidden Ability availability may make that unrealistic in a normal run. Ditto also copies dangerous weaknesses and does not copy HP, so transforming into a bulky opponent does not automatically make Ditto equally durable. It is therefore a specialized encounter rather than a conventional dependable team member.

Ditto Biology and Behavior
Ditto can reorganize its cellular structure to copy the physical form and properties of other creatures or objects. The transformation is not always perfect: copying from memory can introduce errors, and some documented Ditto have difficulty changing the appearance of the face. Ditto also reverts when it laughs, providing a behavioral limitation to an otherwise extraordinarily flexible mimicry ability.

Ditto Size Comparison: BETA
Ditto is listed at 1' 0" (0.3 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
