Using Lapras in a Playthrough
Lapras is a slow but very durable Water/Ice Pokemon with strong mixed bulk, useful offenses, and one of the broadest practical story movepools among Water-types. Surf and Ice Beam provide dependable STAB, while coverage such as Thunderbolt or Psychic and support such as Perish Song can answer very different opponents. Its Speed is low and Water/Ice creates several weaknesses, but high HP makes Lapras far more forgiving than many offensive Water-types. In FireRed and LeafGreen it is received as a guaranteed gift in Silph Co., giving it unusually reliable late-midgame availability.
Lapras in Competitive Pokémon
Lapras has usually occupied niche bulky Water/Ice roles rather than top-tier status, using Water Absorb, strong special coverage, recovery or status options, and Freeze-Dry in later generations to threaten opposing Water-types. Gigantamax Lapras became much more influential in Sword and Shield doubles because G-Max Resonance simultaneously dealt Ice-type damage and established Aurora Veil-like protection for its side. Outside that mechanic, its low Speed and Rock-, Fighting-, Grass-, and Electric-type weaknesses limit its consistency despite excellent HP.
Lapras in Nuzlockes
Lapras is a strong Nuzlocke Pokemon because its large HP pool, balanced defenses, and excellent Water/Ice coverage provide both survivability and late-game utility. The guaranteed Kanto gift removes encounter luck and gives the player a dependable answer to several remaining bosses, particularly Dragon-types. Its low Speed means it frequently takes hits before moving, so strong super-effective attacks still need to be avoided. Unlike many glass-cannon Ice-types, Lapras can usually survive ordinary neutral mistakes.

Lapras Biology and Behavior
Lapras is a gentle, highly intelligent marine Pokemon that willingly carries people across water and is capable of understanding human speech. Pods communicate over long distances through song, and individuals have repeatedly been documented rescuing or transporting humans. Human hunting once pushed the species toward extinction, while successful conservation later caused some regional populations to become abundant enough to affect local fish numbers. Lapras is also remarkably resistant to cold and can cross icy seas without difficulty, with smooth skin described as feeling slightly cool to the touch. Its migrations span both polar and tropical waters, reinforcing the picture of a species highly adapted to long-distance ocean travel.

Lapras Size Comparison: BETA
Lapras is listed at 8' 2" (2.5 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Lapras currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
