Flareon Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Flareon in a Playthrough
Flareon's playthrough value varies unusually strongly by generation because its 130 Attack has not always aligned well with the mechanics and moves available to it. In Generation I its 110 Special still made its Fire attacks powerful, while in Generations II and III its high Attack could exploit physical Shadow Ball; this gives it a particularly useful niche in FireRed and LeafGreen against Psychic- and Ghost-types. Generations IV and V exposed its problems more severely, as the physical/special split left it without sufficiently strong physical Fire STAB for a time and surrounded it with stronger, faster Fire-type alternatives. Flare Blitz from Generation VI onward finally lets its 130 Attack power an elite Fire STAB, but low Speed, weak physical bulk, recoil, limited coverage, and competition from other Fire-types continue to make Flareon less convenient than its raw Attack suggests.
Flareon in Competitive Pokémon
Flareon is primarily a physical wallbreaker whose enormous 130 Attack is undermined by 65 Speed, poor physical bulk, limited coverage, and the drawbacks attached to its strongest attacks. Guts can increase its Attack to extreme levels when statused, while Flash Fire provides an alternative immunity-based niche, but Guts sets often accumulate damage from status and Flare Blitz recoil while struggling to enter battle safely. Its 110 Special Defense is surprisingly strong and occasionally gives Flareon secondary value as a specially bulky Fire-type, although its low HP limits that strength. Historically, Flareon has usually occupied lower competitive tiers because other Fire-types can deliver comparable offensive pressure with better Speed, coverage, defensive utility, or longevity.
Flareon in Nuzlockes
Flareon's 130 Attack can remove opponents quickly, while 110 Special Defense and Flash Fire give it more defensive utility than its reputation sometimes suggests. However, its 65 Speed frequently forces it to take damage before attacking, and its weak physical Defense makes unexpected Ground, Rock, or strong neutral physical attacks particularly dangerous. In later generations Flare Blitz solves its physical STAB problem but introduces recoil, making repeated use riskier when fainting is permanent. Its Nuzlocke value is therefore highly game-dependent: it can fill an important Fire-type shortage or exploit specific matchups, but it is generally less safe and flexible than the bulkier or faster Eeveelutions.

Flareon Biology and Behavior
Flareon possesses an internal flame chamber that maintains an extraordinarily high body temperature and heats inhaled air before it is expelled as fire exceeding 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Its thick fur is not simply insulation: Flareon deliberately fluffs its collar to release excess heat and prevent its body from becoming dangerously hot. It is omnivorous and has the unusual habit of roasting both captured prey and berries with its own flames before eating them. Despite its extreme internal temperature, Flareon is generally characterized as curious and inquisitive and is more commonly associated with populated areas than wilderness.

Flareon Size Comparison: BETA
Flareon is listed at 2' 11" (0.9 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Flareon currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
