Eiscue Ice is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII, with a base stat total of 470 and no standard evolutions.
Eiscue Ice
Abilities
The Pokémon’s ice head can take a physical attack as a substitute, but the attack also changes the Pokémon’s appearance. The ice will be restored when it hails.

Using Eiscue Ice in a Playthrough
Eiscue does not evolve, but Ice Face makes it function like two different stat profiles during battle: it begins in Ice Face with base 110 Defense and only 50 Speed, then becomes Noice Face with 70 Defense and 130 Speed after the ice absorbs a physical attack. The first physical hit received in Ice Face deals no damage at all, making that state an unusually strong opportunity to use Belly Drum, Substitute, or another setup move against a known physical attacker. In Generation VIII the ice reforms when hail begins, while Generation IX changed the weather interaction so that snow restores Ice Face; switching Eiscue into existing snow can also restore the protective head. Belly Drum maximizes Attack at the cost of half of maximum HP and is the line's classic sweeping strategy, while Icicle Crash, Ice Spinner, Liquidation, Zen Headbutt, and coverage attacks provide physical damage depending on the game. Pure Ice is difficult defensively, granting only an Ice resistance while leaving Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel weaknesses, and Ice Face protects only against physical moves rather than special attacks. Noice Face's base 130 Speed is excellent for cleaning after the disguise breaks, but both defenses fall sharply in that state, so the transformation exchanges protection for speed rather than being a simple upgrade. Jolly is normally the safest Nature for sweeping because it maximizes both the slow Ice Face and extremely fast Noice Face benchmarks, while Adamant can be used when external speed control makes extra Attack more valuable.
Eiscue Ice in Competitive Pokémon
Eiscue has remained a ZU Pokémon in both Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet, with a recognizable but highly predictable Belly Drum niche rather than broad competitive success. In Sword/Shield, Ice Face could completely absorb one physical attack and create a potential setup opportunity for Belly Drum, after which breaking the ice changed Eiscue from base 50 to base 130 Speed and allowed it to attempt a sweep. Smogon's SS analysis nevertheless regarded the strategy as weak and easily stopped because special attacks ignore Ice Face entirely, physical attackers can often survive Eiscue's coverage, and even maximum Attack does not guarantee the necessary knockouts. Hail could restore Ice Face in Generation VIII, theoretically allowing repeated physical protection if weather was timed correctly, but the amount of support required made the strategy even more specialized. Scarlet/Violet again places Eiscue in ZU; snow now restores Ice Face and simultaneously raises Ice-type physical Defense, while Ice Spinner and Terastallization add modern options without changing the fundamental setup dependence. The form transition remains its entire competitive identity: Ice Face provides the free physical hit and better bulk, while Noice Face provides the Speed needed to clean. Its continuing weaknesses are special attackers, common Fire-, Fighting-, Rock-, and Steel-type pressure, limited raw Attack, and the danger of dedicating half of its HP to Belly Drum before its checks have been removed.
Eiscue Ice in Nuzlockes
Eiscue's Ice Face can provide one of the safest single physical setup opportunities available in a Nuzlocke because the first physical hit is completely negated rather than merely reduced. That protection does not apply to special attacks, status moves, or every indirect source of damage, so identifying the opponent's actual attacking category is essential before treating Ice Face as a free turn. Once the ice breaks, Noice Face jumps to base 130 Speed but loses a large amount of Defense and Special Defense, making it much better at finishing a fight than remaining exposed to additional attacks. Snow can restore Ice Face in Generation IX and also raises Eiscue's physical Defense, while hail served the restoration role in Generation VIII, giving weather teams a way to regain the physical shield. Belly Drum is far more dangerous in permadeath play than its competitive popularity suggests because deliberately sacrificing half of maximum HP can put Eiscue within range of priority, special attacks, weather, or other chip immediately after setup. Ice Spinner is accurate and reliable, whereas Icicle Crash and Head Smash introduce accuracy or recoil risks that should be avoided when the extra power is unnecessary. The safest approach is to use Ice Face as emergency physical insurance rather than deliberately burning through HP simply because a Belly Drum sweep is possible.

Eiscue Ice Biology and Behavior
Eiscue originates in extremely cold environments and continuously produces cold air inside its head to keep that heat-sensitive head encased in a protective cube of ice. The ice is not exceptionally durable and can be shattered by a sufficiently strong impact, but Eiscue can manufacture a replacement rather than depending on naturally occurring ice. The protective cube has a mildly salty taste, probably because Eiscue commonly drifts long distances through seawater with only its ice-covered head visible above the surface. Groups of Eiscue press their ice cubes together during hot weather and cool one another collectively. The species is easygoing and adapts calmly when ocean currents carry it to unfamiliar shores, even though it is paradoxically a poor swimmer.

Eiscue Ice Size Comparison: BETA
Eiscue Ice is listed at 4' 7" (1.4 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
