Espurr Espurr Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Espurr in a Playthrough
Espurr evolves into Meowstic at level 25, with the evolved form's appearance, Hidden Ability, and several learned moves depending on sex. Both ordinary Meowstic share pure Psychic typing and the same 74/48/76/83/81/104 stat line. Male Meowstic is primarily support-oriented and its Hidden Ability Prankster gives +1 priority to status moves such as Reflect, Light Screen, Thunder Wave, Yawn, Trick, and other utility; female Meowstic instead has Competitive, which raises Special Attack by two stages whenever an opposing effect lowers one of its stats, matching its more offensive learnset. Both can also have Keen Eye or Infiltrator, with Infiltrator allowing attacks to bypass Substitute and several screen effects. Mega Meowstic combines the two sexes visually and rises to base 143 Special Attack, 101 Special Defense, and 124 Speed while gaining Trace, which copies an opposing Pokemon's Ability on entry. Timid is ideal for female or Mega offense, while Bold, Calm, or Timid can all support male utility depending on the role.
Espurr in Competitive Pokémon
Ordinary Meowstic's competitive value differs sharply by sex even though the base stats are identical. Male Meowstic had a legitimate VGC 2014 support niche because Prankster gives priority to Reflect, Light Screen, Thunder Wave, Safeguard, and other support, while Fake Out and base 104 Speed add additional disruption; Smogon nevertheless notes that mediocre bulk and offensive presence can make it difficult to justify over stronger support Pokemon. Female Meowstic is more offensive because Competitive can punish Intimidate and other stat drops by sharply raising Special Attack, but base 83 Special Attack is modest before that activation. Mega Meowstic is a much newer form and should be separated from those established roles: base 143 Special Attack and 124 Speed turn it into a genuine fast special attacker, while Trace can copy powerful opposing abilities and create highly matchup-dependent advantages. It retains pure Psychic typing and the same mediocre physical bulk, so Dark-, Ghost-, and Bug-type priority or strong physical attacks remain important checks.
Espurr in Nuzlockes
Meowstic is useful in Nuzlockes because it evolves relatively early at level 25 and base 104 Speed lets it act before many opponents. Male Meowstic is usually the safer support choice because priority screens or Thunder Wave can protect the entire team, while female Meowstic can capitalize on predictable stat-lowering moves with Competitive and end fights faster. Both forms are weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark and have only moderate physical Defense, so they should not be treated as tanks. Espurr itself requires care before evolution because its psychic power is strong but its stats are still those of an unevolved Pokemon. Mega Meowstic's base 124 Speed, 143 Special Attack, and 101 Special Defense create a much larger offensive safety margin, but Trace should always be checked mentally because copying the wrong opposing ability can be neutral or even inconvenient rather than helpful.

The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out.
It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power.
Though Espurr’s expression never changes, behind that blank stare is an intense struggle to contain its devastating psychic power.
There’s enough psychic power in Espurr to send a wrestler flying, but because this power can’t be controlled, Espurr finds it troublesome.

Espurr Biology and Behavior
Espurr has immense psychic power that it cannot fully control. Two ring-shaped organs beneath its folded ears emit that energy, and Espurr keeps the ears pressed down to prevent the power from leaking out. If released, the psychic force can throw a wrestler or affect an area hundreds of feet across. Its blank expression hides the constant effort required to restrain that energy, and excessive buildup can even cause Espurr to faint.

Espurr Size Comparison: BETA
Espurr is listed at 1' 0" (0.3 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Espurr currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
