Kadabra Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Kadabra in a Playthrough
The Abra line is one of the strongest pure special-attacking lines in games where it can be obtained, but the earliest stage can be inconvenient because Abra is fragile and historically relies heavily on Teleport before evolving. Kadabra arrives at level 16 and immediately gains high Special Attack and Speed, allowing Psychic STAB to remove many opponents before they can act; importantly, Kadabra remains very strong even if trading for Alakazam is impossible. Alakazam improves the line further with greater Speed, special power, and special bulk while retaining useful coverage and support options such as Calm Mind and screens in different generations. Where Mega Evolution is available, Mega Alakazam pushes the same role to an extreme through exceptionally high Special Attack and Speed.
Kadabra in Competitive Pokémon
Alakazam has been a significant competitive Pokemon across many generations because extreme Speed and Special Attack give it a natural role as a special wallbreaker, revenge killer, or cleaner. Earlier generations relied primarily on powerful Psychic offense and coverage, while Magic Guard later allowed Alakazam to ignore most passive damage and use items such as Life Orb or Focus Sash with unusual efficiency. Mega Alakazam became one of the fastest and strongest special attackers in formats where it was legal, using its enormous offensive statistics to pressure both offensive and defensive teams. Its principal weakness has remained physical frailty, meaning priority, faster boosted opponents, or surviving its initial attack can quickly turn the matchup against it.
Kadabra in Nuzlockes
The Abra line combines enormous offensive value with substantial risk. Abra itself can be difficult to capture because of Teleport and can be awkward to train before evolving, but Kadabra becomes immediately useful at level 16 and FireRed and LeafGreen community analysis consistently rates it highly even without access to trade evolution. Alakazam is even stronger and has been rated among the best Kanto Nuzlocke encounters because it can outspeed and eliminate large portions of the opposing roster with Psychic and coverage. Its poor physical durability remains the central danger, so its safety depends on accurate matchup knowledge and securing knockouts rather than surviving unexpected physical attacks.

Kadabra Biology and Behavior
Kadabra constantly carries a silver spoon that amplifies its telekinetic abilities; without the proper spoon, its psychic power is substantially reduced. Its body emits powerful alpha waves capable of causing headaches, disrupting machinery, stopping delicate devices, and even affecting clocks. These waves become stronger when Kadabra is placed in danger, and closing its eyes further increases their production. All of the cells in Kadabra's brain are described as working together while it uses its psychic powers.

Kadabra Size Comparison: BETA
Kadabra is listed at 4' 3" (1.3 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Kadabra currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
