Toxel Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Toxel in a Playthrough

Toxel evolves into Toxtricity at level 30, but the resulting form is determined by Toxel's original Nature: one set of Natures produces Amped Form and the other produces Low Key Form, and using a Mint does not change that evolution outcome. Both Toxtricity forms share the same 75/98/70/114/70/75 base stats and Electric/Poison typing, so the line is principally a slowish special wallbreaker with enough physical Attack to use selected mixed options rather than a fast Electric sweeper. Punk Rock is the defining Ability because it boosts Toxtricity's sound-based attacks by 30% while halving the damage it takes from sound moves, dramatically strengthening both Overdrive and the otherwise non-STAB Boomburst. Electric/Poison supplies eight resistances and leaves only Psychic and a severe 4× Ground weakness, giving Toxtricity many good switch opportunities as long as Earthquake and other Ground coverage are ruled out. Amped Form and Low Key Form learn slightly different level-up moves and have Plus or Minus respectively as their secondary normal Ability, but Punk Rock is generally more useful in a normal solo playthrough; Amped also learns Shift Gear whereas Low Key learns Magnetic Flux at the corresponding late level. Volt Switch provides momentum, Sludge Wave or Sludge Bomb handles Fairy- and Grass-types, and Boomburst gives extremely strong neutral sound damage even though it does not receive same-type attack bonus. Both forms can share the same Gigantamax form in Sword/Shield, whose G-Max Stun Shock damages the opponents and can inflict either poison or paralysis; Modest is usually an excellent Nature for raw special damage, while Timid is useful if the player values outspeeding more mid-speed opponents.

Toxel in Competitive Pokémon

Toxtricity has been a genuine mid-tier wallbreaker across two generations, holding an RU placement in both Sword/Shield and current Scarlet/Violet. In Sword/Shield RU, Choice Specs Punk Rock Boomburst was one of the tier's strongest sources of immediate neutral special damage, while Overdrive punished Ghost-types and other Pokémon immune or resistant to Normal and Volt Switch preserved offensive momentum. Its Electric/Poison typing also provided useful defensive entry points against Fairy-, Flying-, Grass-, Electric-, Fighting-, Bug-, Poison-, and Steel-type attacks, allowing it to switch into selected utility Pokémon rather than functioning as a pure glass cannon. Shift Gear sets offered a different win condition by fixing base 75 Speed and allowing Toxtricity to clean after the opposing team had been weakened, while Throat Spray could add another Special Attack boost after a sound move. Scarlet and Violet again list Toxtricity in RU, where Choice Specs remains a highly threatening wallbreaking set and Shift Gear plus Throat Spray can support late-game sweeping; Terastallization can also turn Boomburst into STAB when using Tera Normal. Its flaws remain consistent: base 75 Speed leaves it vulnerable to offense before setup, 75/70/70 bulk is only moderate, and the 4× Ground weakness gives many teams an immediate revenge-killing route. Amped and Low Key have identical stats and overwhelmingly similar competitive roles, so their tier history is best treated together rather than pretending the forms developed separate metagames.

Toxel in Nuzlockes

Toxtricity is a useful Nuzlocke Pokémon because Electric/Poison provides a large resistance profile and strong special damage without requiring lengthy setup, but the 4× Ground weakness is severe enough to dominate matchup planning. Overdrive and Boomburst are accurate and gain a reliable power boost from Punk Rock, letting Toxtricity deal large damage without recoil, defensive drops, or low accuracy. Volt Switch can escape unfavorable matchups while dealing damage, though it cannot function against Ground-types and should not be treated as an emergency exit if the opponent might be immune. Toxel itself is frail and evolves only at level 30, so the period before evolution deserves more caution than the relatively durable final stage; the player's preferred Toxtricity form must also be planned around Toxel's actual Nature because Mints cannot change the form outcome. Shift Gear is useful on Amped Form but costs a setup turn, while Low Key's different level-up support tools do not materially improve its survival enough to justify staying in against a dangerous opponent. Psychic attacks remain a normal weakness and strong neutral moves can still overwhelm only average bulk, but the largest danger is any unexpected Ground coverage, which can knock out Toxtricity before its excellent resistances matter.

Sword

It stores poison in an internal poison sac and secretes that poison through its skin. If you touch this Pokémon, a tingling sensation follows.

Toxel Biology and Behavior

Toxel is a baby Pokémon capable of drinking dirty water and filtering the contaminants into a poison that is harmless to its own body. It chemically modifies that poison to generate weak electricity, with poison and electrical energy stored in separate internal sacs before both are released through the skin. The voltage is low but strong enough to cause a tingling paralysis in creatures that touch it. Toxel is selfish, attention-seeking, and prone to tantrums, including while asleep. Its baby-like appearance encourages people to cradle it, but contact can trigger the poisonous electrical secretion, making handling riskier than the species' small size suggests.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
