Xerneas Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Xerneas in a Playthrough
Xerneas is a pure Fairy Legendary with base 126 HP, 131 Attack, 131 Special Attack, 95 Defense, 98 Special Defense, and 99 Speed. Fairy Aura increases the power of Fairy-type moves used by any Pokemon on the field by roughly one-third, making Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam substantially stronger even before setup. Geomancy is Xerneas's signature move and normally spends one turn charging before raising Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed by two stages each; a Power Herb allows that charge to complete immediately, creating one of the strongest one-turn setup combinations in the series. Thunder, Focus Blast, Grass Knot, Psyshock or Psychic in relevant games, Aromatherapy in older generations, and coverage can support the Fairy STAB. Pure Fairy is immune to Dragon, resists Fighting, Bug, and Dark, and is weak only to Poison and Steel. Xerneas has Neutral Mode and Active Mode, but the modes do not change its stats or ability; it simply appears in Active Mode when battling or using its power. Modest maximizes Geomancy sweeping power, while Timid can secure important Speed thresholds before setup or against other boosted threats.
Xerneas in Competitive Pokémon
Xerneas has been an Ubers-defining Pokemon since its introduction. Power Herb Geomancy raises Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed by two stages in a single turn, while Fairy Aura boosts Moonblast beyond ordinary STAB and makes a boosted Xerneas capable of sweeping teams immediately if its checks have been weakened. Smogon's XY Ubers analysis describes Geomancy as a set that shapes the metagame around itself, forcing teams to carry dedicated Steel-types, Poison-types, phazing, priority, or other emergency counterplay. Xerneas is not limited to one set: Choice Scarf, Choice Specs, bulky support, Aromatherapy, and mixed or defensive approaches have all appeared because 126 HP and balanced offensive stats give it unusual flexibility. It was also a defining restricted Pokemon in VGC 2016, where Geomancy plus spread Dazzling Gleam created tremendous doubles pressure. Its Neutral and Active Modes are competitively identical; the mode shift is visual rather than a stat transformation.
Xerneas in Nuzlockes
If Legendary Pokemon are permitted, Xerneas is one of the safest offensive choices available because 126 HP, only two weaknesses, a Dragon immunity, and Geomancy's simultaneous Special Defense and Speed boosts create an enormous margin for error. Power Herb Geomancy can turn a controlled setup opportunity into an immediate sweep without spending a vulnerable charging turn. Moonblast is accurate and powerful, making it safer than relying unnecessarily on Focus Blast or Thunder when neutral Fairy damage is enough. Poison and Steel attacks remain the principal dangers, especially before Geomancy or from strong physical attackers, and a critical hit can still bypass much of the planned defensive advantage. Modest is excellent for raw power, while Timid is safer when acting first before setup matters more than maximum damage.

Xerneas Biology and Behavior
Neutral Mode is Xerneas's resting state, recognizable by pale blue antlers and subdued markings rather than the multicolored antlers seen when its power is active. Xerneas is associated throughout Kalosian mythology with life, renewal, and the ability to share life energy with other beings. When it expends too much of that energy, lore says it transforms into a tree and sleeps for roughly 1,000 years to restore itself. Its calm resting appearance therefore represents a dormant state of an extraordinarily powerful life-giving Pokemon rather than a weaker species form.

Xerneas Size Comparison: BETA
Xerneas is listed at 9' 10" (3.0 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Xerneas currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
