Mega Zygarde Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Mega Zygarde in a Playthrough
Zygarde is a Dragon/Ground Legendary built from Zygarde Cells and Cores and can exist in 10% Forme, 50% Forme, Complete Forme, and now Mega Zygarde. The 10% Forme is the fastest at base 115 Speed but has only base 54 HP and 71 Defense; 50% Forme rises to 108 HP and 121 Defense with base 95 Speed; Complete Forme reaches an extraordinary base 216 HP while retaining 121 Defense and dropping to base 85 Speed. Aura Break reverses the normal power boost from Fairy Aura and Dark Aura, while Power Construct changes a 10% or 50% Zygarde into Complete Forme when its HP falls to half or below under standard ability-enabled mechanics. Thousand Arrows is the family's defining Ground move because it can hit Flying-types, Levitate users, and targets holding Air Balloon, removing one of Ground's normal defensive answers; Extreme Speed, Dragon Dance, Coil, Thousand Waves, Outrage, Core Enforcer, Glare, and Rest add physical, special, or support options. Complete Forme can Mega Evolve using the Zygardite in Legends: Z-A; Mega Zygarde has 216 HP, 216 Special Attack, and 100 Speed but lower Attack and defenses than Complete Forme, and Core Enforcer is replaced by Nihil Light while Mega Evolved. Legends: Z-A itself does not use Abilities, and no ability-enabled Mega Zygarde is currently confirmed, so the Mega should not be assigned an invented Ability. Dragon/Ground is immune to Electric, resists Fire, Poison, and Rock, but is weak to Dragon and Fairy and takes quadruple damage from Ice.
Mega Zygarde in Competitive Pokémon
Zygarde's competitive history changes dramatically by generation and form. In XY, only the 50% Forme was available; it spent most of the generation in UUBL because base 100 Attack and 95 Speed made it look underwhelming beside Garchomp, although its bulk, Dragon/Ground STAB, Dragon Dance, Coil, and Extreme Speed still gave it real OU niches. Sun and Moon transformed Zygarde into a metagame-defining threat by introducing Thousand Arrows and Power Construct: Thousand Arrows bypasses ordinary Ground immunities, while Complete Forme's 216 HP makes it one of the bulkiest Pokemon ever used in standard formats. Power Construct Zygarde proved too strong for OU and became an Ubers fixture, where defensive Coil, Dragon Dance, Glare, Rest, Thousand Arrows, and other sets could pressure both offense and balance. The 10% Forme developed a separate lower-tier identity as a very fast Choice Band or utility attacker because base 115 Speed and Thousand Arrows compensate for its low bulk. Mega Zygarde is too new for an honest long-term singles history; current canon gives it a radical special-attacking stat shift and Nihil Light, so it should be presented as a new Legends: Z-A form rather than retroactively assigned an established competitive resume.
Mega Zygarde in Nuzlockes
Zygarde is unusually forgiving if Legendary Pokemon and form mechanics are allowed. The 50% Forme already has strong physical bulk, while a Power Construct Zygarde effectively gains a huge amount of maximum HP when it changes into Complete Forme after falling below half health, creating a dramatic emergency durability boost. The 10% Forme is much frailer but can avoid attacks through base 115 Speed, making it better suited to quick offense than prolonged tanking. Thousand Arrows is exceptionally reliable because it removes the need to predict around Flying-types or Levitate, while Coil can increase Attack, Defense, and accuracy at once for controlled physical setup. Ice attacks are the critical danger to every form because they deal quadruple damage, and strong Fairy or Dragon attacks are also dangerous. Mega Zygarde's 216 Special Attack creates enormous offensive potential, but its Defense and Special Defense are lower than Complete Forme's and its strongest new mechanics are specific to Legends: Z-A, so it should not be treated as simply a bulkier Complete Forme.

When the Kalos region’s ecosystem falls into disarray, it appears and reveals its secret power.
It’s hypothesized that it’s monitoring those who destroy the ecosystem from deep in the cave where it lives.
This is Zygarde’s form when it has gathered 50% of its cells. It wipes out all those who oppose it, showing not a shred of mercy.
It’s thought to be monitoring the ecosystem. There are rumors that even greater power lies hidden within it.
This is Zygarde’s form when about half of its pieces have been assembled. It plays the role of monitoring the ecosystem.
Some say it can change to an even more powerful form when battling those who threaten the ecosystem.

Mega Zygarde Biology and Behavior
Mega Zygarde can only be reached from Complete Forme. Mega Evolution redistributes many of the Cells that make up Complete Zygarde, opening much of the lower body and replacing the old wing structures with six smaller arm-like appendages that support a gigantic cannon above its head. When the cannon fires, symbols resembling X, Y, and Z illuminate across the muzzle before it releases Nihil Light, an attack described as defying the laws of nature and powerful enough to counter catastrophic energy threatening Lumiose City. The form has been called Lumiose's Guardian and represents Zygarde concentrating the ecosystem's defensive power into a much more specialized ranged-energy configuration.

Mega Zygarde Size Comparison: BETA
Mega Zygarde is listed at 25' 3" (7.7 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
