Using Mega Hawlucha in a Playthrough
Hawlucha is a single-stage Fighting/Flying Pokemon with base 118 Speed and 92 Attack, so it functions as a fast physical attacker rather than a bulky Fighting-type. Flying Press is its signature move and is unusual because it is Fighting-type while calculating effectiveness using both Fighting and Flying matchups; High Jump Kick, Acrobatics, Brave Bird, Swords Dance, Roost, U-turn, Stone Edge, and other coverage give Hawlucha several ways to sweep or pivot. Limber prevents paralysis, Mold Breaker lets Hawlucha ignore opposing abilities when attacking, and Unburden doubles Speed after its held item is consumed or otherwise lost, making Unburden the defining setup ability in most competitive and advanced play. Fighting/Flying grants a Ground immunity, a quadruple Bug resistance, and resistances to Fighting, Grass, and Dark, but Electric, Ice, Flying, Psychic, and Fairy are super effective. Mega Hawlucha keeps Fighting/Flying typing and base 118 Speed while rising to base 137 Attack, 100 Defense, and 93 Special Defense; current ability-enabled play gives it No Guard, making every move used by or against it hit regardless of accuracy. Jolly is usually ideal for standard Hawlucha, while Adamant becomes more reasonable after Unburden or when Mega Hawlucha's base 118 Speed is already sufficient.
Mega Hawlucha in Competitive Pokémon
Standard Hawlucha has repeatedly found upper-tier niches because Unburden can turn a one-time item activation into effectively unmatched Speed. In XY it was UUBL with genuine OU viability, usually relying on Swords Dance, Acrobatics, High Jump Kick, Substitute or a consumable item to activate Unburden and become a late-game cleaner. Later terrain-based teams made the ability even easier to trigger through Seeds, and Hawlucha became one of the most recognizable setup sweepers of the Tapu era. Its main limitation is that base 92 Attack is modest until boosted, while 78/75/63 bulk leaves little room for a failed setup or inaccurate High Jump Kick. Mega Hawlucha is a newer form and should be separated from that established Unburden history: current Champions data places it in UU with base 137 Attack, 100 Defense, 93 Special Defense, and No Guard. No Guard removes the accuracy risk from moves such as High Jump Kick and other coverage, but also guarantees that opposing attacks aimed at Mega Hawlucha will not miss.
Mega Hawlucha in Nuzlockes
Hawlucha is very useful in Nuzlockes because base 118 Speed, a Ground immunity, and strong dual STAB let it avoid many retaliations entirely. Flying Press is accurate and distinctive, while Acrobatics can become especially strong after Hawlucha loses its held item; High Jump Kick should be treated with caution because a miss or failed hit can cause severe crash damage. Unburden can create extremely safe sweeps if a Berry or other consumable item is triggered deliberately, but once Hawlucha switches out the Speed boost is lost. Electric, Ice, Flying, Psychic, and Fairy attacks remain dangerous because the ordinary form is not especially bulky. Mega Hawlucha's improved defenses and No Guard remove accuracy risk from its own moves, but No Guard also removes the possibility that an enemy attack misses, so defensive planning still matters.

Although its body is small, its proficient fighting skills enable it to keep up with big bruisers like Machamp and Hariyama.
With its wings, it controls its position in the air. It likes to attack from above, a maneuver that is difficult to defend against.
It overwhelms opponents with quick moves, but sometimes it showboats for too long when it’s using a special move and gets itself into a pinch.
In combat, Hawlucha leaps nimbly about, taking advantage of its opponents’ blind spots. It’s also skilled at using superb submission holds.
It drives its opponents to exhaustion with its agile maneuvers, then ends the fight with a flashy finishing move.
It always strikes a pose before going for its finishing move. Sometimes opponents take advantage of that time to counterattack.

Mega Hawlucha Biology and Behavior
Mega Evolution pumps up nearly every muscle in Hawlucha's body and greatly improves its ability to absorb direct attacks. Mega Hawlucha becomes so confident in that new durability that it deliberately flexes and showboats in front of opponents, attempting to lure them into attacking before retaliating. It then uses the opening to stun or stagger the opponent and follows with a spinning aerial Flying Press. The form exaggerates Hawlucha's existing wrestling persona, combining heavier musculature with even more theatrical crowd-facing behavior.

Mega Hawlucha Size Comparison: BETA
Mega Hawlucha is listed at 3' 3" (1.0 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
