Binacle Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Binacle in a Playthrough
Binacle evolves into Barbaracle at level 39, producing a Rock/Water physical attacker with base 105 Attack, 115 Defense, and 68 Speed. Shell Smash is the defining setup move because one use raises Attack, Special Attack, and Speed by two stages while lowering Defense and Special Defense by one stage. Razor Shell or later Liquidation and Stone Edge or Rock Slide provide dual STAB, while Earthquake, Cross Chop or other Fighting coverage, Grass Knot in some competitive sets, and Substitute give useful options. Tough Claws boosts contact moves by 30 percent and is generally the best offensive ability; Sniper increases critical-hit damage, while the Hidden Ability Pickpocket steals an attacker's held item if Barbaracle is not already holding one and is struck by contact. Rock/Water heavily resists Fire and also resists Normal, Flying, Poison, and Ice, but is weak to Electric, Fighting, and Ground and takes quadruple damage from Grass. Adamant is usually ideal after Shell Smash, while Jolly can improve important Speed thresholds.
Binacle in Competitive Pokémon
Barbaracle became a legitimate XY NU setup sweeper through the combination of Shell Smash and Tough Claws. After one Shell Smash, its Attack and Speed rise sharply enough to threaten offensive teams, while Tough Claws effectively gives contact moves such as Razor Shell and Fighting coverage another substantial damage boost. Compared with other Shell Smash Water-types such as Carracosta, Barbaracle's higher base Speed lets it outrun a much larger portion of the metagame after boosting, though it lacks Carracosta's priority Aqua Jet and some of its setup safety. Later generations strengthened the strategy further with Liquidation and continued access to strong physical coverage. The weaknesses are inherent to Shell Smash itself: both defenses fall after setup, Grass attacks deal quadruple damage, priority can exploit the reduced bulk, and Stone Edge or older Razor Shell sets may introduce accuracy risk. Barbaracle is therefore a dangerous but commitment-heavy late-game cleaner.
Binacle in Nuzlockes
Barbaracle can sweep entire fights after Shell Smash, but the strategy carries real permadeath risk because both defensive stats fall by one stage as the offensive stats and Speed rise. It is safest to set up only against an opponent that cannot threaten strong Grass, Electric, Fighting, or Ground coverage. Grass is particularly dangerous because it deals quadruple damage, and even a weak unexpected Grass move can be lethal after Shell Smash lowers Special Defense. Tough Claws improves several reliable physical attacks without requiring recoil, while Liquidation is generally safer than Stone Edge when neutral Water damage is sufficient. Barbaracle's strong base 115 Defense makes ordinary physical hits manageable before setup, but players should not assume that bulk remains intact once Shell Smash has been used.

Two Binacle live together on one rock. When they fight, one of them will move to a different rock.
They stretch and then contract, yanking their rocks along with them in bold hops. They eat seaweed that washes up on the shoreline.
After two Binacle find a suitably sized rock, they adhere themselves to it and live together. They cooperate to gather food during high tide.
If the two don’t work well together, both their offense and defense fall apart. Without good teamwork, they won’t survive.

Binacle Biology and Behavior
Binacle normally exists as a pair of individuals sharing a single rock, and the two must cooperate to move and survive. They stretch and contract their bodies to yank the rock along in a hopping motion while feeding on seaweed washed onto shore. The partnership is not always peaceful: the two frequently quarrel, and when cooperation breaks down one Binacle may leave the shared rock and seek a different partner. Their survival therefore depends on an unusually direct social relationship between two separate individuals.

Binacle Size Comparison: BETA
Binacle is listed at 1' 8" (0.5 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
