Using Cetoddle in a Playthrough
Cetoddle evolves into Cetitan when exposed to an Ice Stone, so evolution timing depends on obtaining the item rather than reaching a particular level; the line itself is encountered around the later, snowy portion of Paldea such as Glaseado Mountain. Cetitan is an enormous physical attacker with base 170 HP and 113 Attack, and its 521 BST is concentrated into raw HP and offense rather than balanced defenses. Thick Fat is excellent for general play because it halves the offensive stat used by opposing Fire- and Ice-type moves, effectively cancelling the normal super-effective damage multiplier of Fire against an Ice-type under ordinary circumstances; Slush Rush instead doubles Cetitan's Speed in snow, while Sheer Force can amplify compatible attacks. Generation IX snow also increases the Defense of Ice-type Pokémon by 50%, which works particularly well with Cetitan's massive HP and can compensate for its otherwise modest base 65 Defense. Ice Spinner is a reliable 80-base-power, perfectly accurate physical STAB move, Ice Shard provides priority, and coverage such as Earthquake helps against Fire-, Rock-, and Steel-types that resist or threaten Ice. Belly Drum can maximize Attack instantly and pairs explosively with Slush Rush and priority, but losing half of maximum HP is unnecessary for most story battles and can turn Cetitan's large health pool into a liability. Jolly is useful on Slush Rush sets that want to sweep under snow, Adamant maximizes direct damage, and Careful can help compensate for Cetitan's low Special Defense on bulkier approaches.
Cetoddle in Competitive Pokémon
Cetitan is currently classified as NUBL in Smogon's Scarlet/Violet Pokédex, meaning it is banned from NU despite lacking enough usage for a standard higher usage tier, and its documented higher-tier niche revolves primarily around snow offense. Slush Rush doubles its Speed in snow, while Generation IX snow simultaneously gives Ice-types a 50% Defense increase, turning Cetitan into a much harder physical target while it prepares to attack. The defining offensive set uses Belly Drum to maximize Attack, frequently with a Sitrus Berry to restore some of the health sacrificed, followed by Ice Spinner or Icicle Spear, Earthquake, and Ice Shard for priority. Base 170 HP gives Cetitan unusually high raw survivability, and base 113 Attack means it can remain threatening even before Belly Drum, but base 55 Special Defense leaves it vulnerable to strong special attackers and its pure Ice typing supplies only one natural resistance. Thick Fat can support bulkier variants by mitigating Fire damage, while Sheer Force has offensive applications, but neither reproduces the speed control and immediate sweeping potential of Slush Rush in snow. Its dependence on weather, setup time, and a type with four common weaknesses prevents it from being universally splashable, but the NUBL placement reflects that snow-supported Belly Drum sets are substantially more dangerous than Cetitan's modest Speed initially suggests.
Cetoddle in Nuzlockes
Cetitan can be a powerful Nuzlocke tank and attacker, but the line is obtained relatively late and requires an Ice Stone to evolve, so access to the final form is less automatic than a simple level evolution. Base 170 HP gives Cetitan a huge buffer against neutral damage, and Thick Fat is usually the safest Ability because it sharply reduces Fire damage while also reducing Ice attacks that it already resists. Snow is particularly valuable in Generation IX because the 50% Defense increase for Ice-types patches Cetitan's mediocre base 65 Defense, and Slush Rush can instead use the same weather to double Speed and avoid damage by moving first. Ice Spinner and Ice Shard are excellent permadeath tools because both are perfectly accurate, with Ice Shard providing emergency priority to finish weakened targets. Belly Drum is far less attractive than in competitive play: immediately sacrificing half of Cetitan's maximum HP creates substantial critical-hit and revenge-kill risk, and the offensive boost is often unnecessary against ordinary trainers. Its low base 55 Special Defense and weaknesses to Fighting, Rock, Steel, and Fire mean the huge HP stat should not be mistaken for universal bulk, especially when Thick Fat is absent. A conservative Thick Fat or snow-assisted set is generally safer than trying to reproduce an all-or-nothing competitive Belly Drum sweep.

This species left the ocean and began living on land a very long time ago. It seems to be closely related to Wailmer.
It lives in frigid regions in pods of five or so individuals. It loves the minerals found in snow and ice.

Cetoddle Biology and Behavior
Cetoddle is a small land-dwelling cetacean whose ancestors are said to have lived in the ocean before migrating onto land, making its evolutionary history the reverse of the land-to-sea transition described for its suspected relative Wailmer. It inhabits cold regions in pods of roughly five individuals and enjoys eating minerals found in snow and ice. The species is strongly social and dislikes loneliness; Pokémon Sleep research has observed Cetoddle becoming restless or panicked in its sleep, possibly while dreaming that it has been separated from its group. It may also pound the ground while sleeping when agitated.

Cetoddle Size Comparison: BETA
Cetoddle is listed at 3' 11" (1.2 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
