Ducklett Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Ducklett in a Playthrough

Ducklett evolves into Swanna at level 35, producing a Water/Flying Pokemon with base 98 Speed and equal base 87 Attack and Special Attack. Surf or Scald and Air Slash or Hurricane provide strong special STAB, while Fly or Brave Bird, Ice Beam, Roost, Rain Dance, Defog in later games, and other support options allow physical, special, or utility play. Hydration cures status at the end of each turn while rain is active, creating a particularly useful combination with Rest in generations where both are available; Keen Eye prevents accuracy reduction, while Big Pecks prevents Defense drops. Water/Flying grants a Ground immunity and useful resistances to Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug, and Steel, but Electric attacks deal quadruple damage and Rock attacks are also super effective. Timid is the most straightforward nature for special sets because base 98 Speed is one of Swanna's best traits. Its 75/63/63 bulk is mediocre, so it performs best when using Speed and good offensive typing rather than attempting to tank repeated hits.

Ducklett in Competitive Pokémon

Swanna was a meaningful BW rain attacker despite never becoming an upper-tier staple. In BW NU it used base 98 Speed, Surf, and Hurricane to become a dangerous rain sweeper because Hurricane becomes perfectly accurate in rain while Surf simultaneously receives a power boost; Hydration plus Rest could also restore Swanna completely without leaving it asleep once the turn ended. Smogon classified Swanna in PUBL while noting that its combination of Water and Flying STAB was difficult for many teams to resist cleanly. Later generations gave it additional utility through Defog, and by SM ZU it was considered one of the tier's better offensive Flying-types and one of its strongest offensive hazard removers. Its limitations have remained consistent: mediocre 87 attacking stats, poor defenses, a Stealth Rock weakness, and a quadruple Electric weakness mean Swanna needs favorable positioning and usually cannot afford many mistakes.

Ducklett in Nuzlockes

Swanna is a useful Nuzlocke Pokemon because its Ground immunity, good base 98 Speed, and Water/Flying coverage create several safe and favorable matchups. Roost provides reliable recovery where available, while Hydration can eliminate status under rain and can make Rest much safer in generations that support the combination. Electric attacks are the overwhelming danger because they deal quadruple damage, and Swanna's 63 Special Defense gives it little chance to survive a strong unexpected Thunderbolt or similar move. Rock attacks are also super effective, while Brave Bird recoil and Hurricane's poor accuracy outside rain introduce avoidable risk. Timid Swanna with reliable Surf or Scald and Air Slash is generally safer than a high-variance mixed or recoil-heavy approach.

Ducklett Biology and Behavior

Ducklett lives around ponds and rivers and is much better at swimming and diving than at flying. Young individuals watch Swanna carefully and imitate their movements while learning to fly. Ducklett can spray water from its feathers to distract predators and escape. Repeated deep diving strengthens its body and helps it search for its preferred foods, including peat and bog moss.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.

Ducklett currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
