Reuniclus Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Reuniclus in a Playthrough

Solosis evolves into Duosion at level 32 and Reuniclus at level 41, producing an extremely slow but powerful pure Psychic special attacker with base 125 Special Attack, 110 HP, and only base 30 Speed. Psychic or Psyshock provides reliable STAB, while Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Energy Ball, Thunder, Recover, Calm Mind, Trick Room, and later coverage options let Reuniclus function as either a bulky setup attacker or dedicated Trick Room sweeper. Magic Guard is the standout ability because it prevents indirect damage from poison, burn, weather, entry hazards, recoil from Life Orb, and many other passive effects; Overcoat instead protects against weather damage and, from Generation VI onward, powder moves, while the Hidden Ability Regenerator restores one-third of maximum HP whenever Reuniclus switches out. Its terrible Speed becomes an advantage under Trick Room, where a Quiet nature and low Speed investment let Reuniclus move before most opponents while using its enormous Special Attack. Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves remain the main threats, and physical attackers can exploit the merely base 75 Defense if Reuniclus has not boosted. Quiet is ideal for Trick Room, while Modest, Bold, or Calm can support slower bulky sets.

Reuniclus in Competitive Pokémon

Reuniclus was a genuine BW OU staple and one of the generation's defining bulky Psychic-types. Magic Guard makes it immune to virtually every form of passive damage, allowing it to ignore sand, hazards, Toxic damage, and Life Orb recoil, which gives it an extraordinary matchup against defensive teams that rely on gradual wear rather than direct attacks. Calm Mind plus Recover turns Reuniclus into a durable win condition, while Trick Room sets use base 30 Speed, base 125 Special Attack, and recoil-free Life Orb to become powerful offensive sweepers; it was also one of VGC 2011 and VGC 2012's strongest Trick Room setters for the same reasons. Duosion even developed its own lower-tier niche with Eviolite and Magic Guard, functioning as a bulky Calm Mind user despite not being fully evolved. Later generations moved Reuniclus into lower usage tiers as power creep increased, but Magic Guard, Regenerator, Recover, Calm Mind, Future Sight, and Trick Room have kept it strategically relevant for many generations rather than reducing it to a historical curiosity.

Reuniclus in Nuzlockes

Reuniclus is exceptionally safe in Nuzlockes when it has Magic Guard because poison, burn chip, weather, entry hazards, and other indirect damage simply cannot reduce its HP. Recover provides reliable healing, while Trick Room can turn its awful Speed into a major advantage and allow Reuniclus to attack before much faster opponents for several turns. Regenerator is also excellent if the Hidden Ability is available because switching restores health without spending a turn, while Overcoat can protect against weather and later powder effects. The main danger is direct super-effective damage from Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves, particularly strong physical attacks against its lower Defense. Quiet or Bold are both useful depending on whether the player wants a Trick Room attacker or a safer bulky pivot, and accurate Psychic or Psyshock is usually preferable to gambling on Focus Blast unless the coverage is truly necessary.

Reuniclus Biology and Behavior

Reuniclus controls its large liquid arms through psychic power, and those arms can grip with enough force to crush rock. Individuals can link their brains by shaking hands, forming a network that increases their combined psychic power. The fluid surrounding Reuniclus has a dangerous reputation: folklore says drinking it grants wisdom, but the liquid is actually highly toxic. The species is regarded as remarkably intelligent despite its unusual gelatinous anatomy.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
