Gothorita Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Gothorita in a Playthrough
Gothita evolves into Gothorita at level 32 and Gothitelle at level 41, producing a slow but bulky pure Psychic Pokemon with base 95 Defense, 110 Special Defense, and 95 Special Attack. Psychic or Psyshock provides reliable STAB, while Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind, Trick Room, Reflect, Light Screen, Thunder Wave, and later support options let Gothitelle function as either a special tank or utility attacker. Frisk reveals opposing held items and can provide valuable information in ordinary play, Competitive raises Special Attack sharply when an opponent lowers one of Gothitelle's stats in generations where that ability is available, and the Hidden Ability Shadow Tag prevents many opposing Pokemon from switching. Base 65 Speed is poor for normal offense but useful under Trick Room, while 70/95/110 bulk gives Gothitelle enough time to set support moves or Calm Mind. Bug, Ghost, and Dark attacks are the main weaknesses. Modest or Calm are straightforward choices, while Quiet is especially useful on a dedicated Trick Room team.
Gothorita in Competitive Pokémon
Gothitelle's competitive history is defined far more by Shadow Tag than by its raw statistics. In BW and later generations, Shadow Tag let Gothitelle trap selected opposing Pokemon and prevent normal switching, allowing it to remove passive walls or support targets with combinations of Taunt, Trick, Calm Mind, Rest, Psychic, coverage, and Choice items. That same mechanic made Gothitelle valuable in doubles, where trapping both opposing positions could create temporary two-on-one situations and pair naturally with Trick Room or Helping Hand. Because trapping is extraordinarily powerful, Shadow Tag has repeatedly been restricted or banned in many standard singles environments, meaning Gothitelle can be listed in a low usage tier while still appearing in Ubers or specialized formats where the ability is legal. Without Shadow Tag, Gothitelle is simply a bulky but slow Psychic-type with modest offensive pressure; with it, the Pokemon can fundamentally alter the opponent's ability to reposition. Modern SV analysis still uses this trapping identity in Ubers-oriented formats despite Gothitelle's ordinary ZU usage tier.
Gothorita in Nuzlockes
Gothitelle is much safer in a Nuzlocke than its Speed suggests because 95 Defense and 110 Special Defense give it reliable mixed bulk, and Frisk can reveal dangerous held items before they cause an unexpected problem. Trick Room can reverse the Speed disadvantage for several turns, while screens, Thunder Wave, Calm Mind, and accurate Psychic attacks support controlled fights without requiring risky recoil or low-accuracy moves. Shadow Tag can be useful for preventing an opponent from escaping, but AI trainers rarely switch as aggressively as competitive players, so the ability is generally less transformative in a story run than in PvP. Bug, Ghost, and Dark coverage should still be respected, particularly from strong physical attackers before Gothitelle has boosted. Calm is excellent for special tanking, while Quiet makes sense when deliberately building around Trick Room.

Gothorita Biology and Behavior
Gothorita draws psychic power from starlight and can arrange rocks into patterns resembling constellations. Its hypnosis is powerful enough to control both people and Pokemon and lead them away from familiar places. Folklore surrounding the species is much darker than Gothita's, including stories that Gothorita puts children to sleep and carries them away, which has earned it the title 'Witch of Punishment.' Claims that the species itself came from outer space remain unconfirmed.

Gothorita Size Comparison: BETA
Gothorita is listed at 2' 4" (0.7 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Gothorita currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
