Nidoran F's Weaknesses and Resistances

Evolution Chain

Nidoran F evolves into Nidorina at level 16, and Nidorina evolves into Nidoqueen with a Moon Stone.

Nidoran F Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Nidoran F in a Playthrough

The Nidoran female line develops into Nidoqueen, a highly versatile Poison/Ground Pokemon whose broad TM and tutor compatibility allows it to fill many different team needs. When a Moon Stone is available early, as in Kanto, Nidoqueen can reach its final evolution unusually early and combine respectable offense with better overall bulk than Nidoking. Ground STAB is particularly valuable, while access across generations to moves from several different types allows Nidoqueen to cover opponents that resist its natural STAB attacks. Its main costs are dependence on external moves for its best coverage and somewhat lower offensive pressure than Nidoking, but its durability makes it the safer of the two in battles where it must absorb hits.

Nidoran F in Competitive Pokémon

Nidoqueen has historically distinguished itself from Nidoking through greater bulk and greater emphasis on utility while retaining excellent offensive coverage. In later generations, Sheer Force combined with Life Orb allows attacks such as Earth Power, Sludge Wave, Ice Beam, and other coverage moves to deal significant damage, while Sheer Force can also remove Life Orb recoil from qualifying attacks. Smogon analyses frequently use Nidoqueen as an offensive Stealth Rock setter or tank, with additional access to tools such as Toxic Spikes and Taunt depending on the format. It generally sacrifices Nidoking's Speed and wallbreaking power for improved defensive utility, making the two related but strategically distinct competitive Pokemon.

Nidoran F in Nuzlockes

The Nidoran female line is especially valuable in Kanto Nuzlockes because it can be obtained early and fully evolved with an early Moon Stone, giving the player a durable final-stage Pokemon while much of the opposing roster is still developing. Nidoqueen's broad movepool lets it adapt to missing team coverage, and community analysis consistently identifies its greater bulk as the main advantage over Nidoking when minimizing the risk of deaths. Poison/Ground typing gives useful resistances and an Electric immunity, although Water-, Ice-, Ground-, and Psychic-type attacks require careful matchup planning. Its primary drawback is resource competition, since many of its strongest moves come from valuable TMs that another teammate may also want.

Nidoran F Biology and Behavior

Nidoran female is naturally docile and avoids fighting when possible, despite possessing extremely potent poison in the small horn and spines covering its body. It generally uses these poisonous defenses only when threatened. Its sense of smell is particularly sensitive, and it uses its whiskers to monitor the wind while searching for Berries or detecting predators. It forages in open environments such as plains and savannas and can crush gathered Berries with its large incisors.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
