Bombirdier Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Bombirdier in a Playthrough

Bombirdier is a standalone Flying/Dark Pokémon with a useful combination of immediate physical power, immunities to Ground and Psychic, and no evolution delay. Its base 103 Attack and 82 Speed are sufficient for story battles, while STAB Flying and Dark attacks cover a broad range of opponents and Sucker Punch can provide valuable priority. The standout Ability is Rocky Payload, which multiplies the offensive stat used for Rock-type attacks by 1.5, effectively giving Bombirdier a third heavily boosted attacking type without changing its defensive typing. Its movepool also supports utility through options such as Knock Off, Taunt, Stealth Rock, and Roost, so it does not have to rely entirely on Brave Bird or other high-damage attacks. The main drawbacks are weaknesses to Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock, plus the recoil of Brave Bird if used as its principal Flying STAB. Adamant emphasizes wallbreaking and Sucker Punch damage, while Jolly can be preferable when the extra Speed changes important matchups.

Bombirdier in Competitive Pokémon

Bombirdier has settled into a legitimate lower-tier role rather than disappearing as a novelty Pokémon. Smogon currently lists it in SV PU and describes it as one of the tier's better offensive pivots and Knock Off users, supported by its Dark/Flying typing, useful defensive profile, and broad utility movepool. Knock Off and Brave Bird provide strong STAB pressure, Sucker Punch gives priority, and Taunt, Stealth Rock, or Roost let Bombirdier adapt between offensive and support responsibilities. Rocky Payload is unusual because it grants a 1.5× offensive modifier to Rock attacks, allowing Stone Edge or other Rock coverage to function almost like an additional STAB type, although competitive sets may choose Big Pecks depending on the role. Heavy-Duty Boots are valuable because Bombirdier's Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Stealth Rock and because repeated pivoting is central to many of its sets. Its moderate Speed and only decent bulk keep it out of stronger tiers, but within PU it has real role compression and should not be dismissed merely because its overall stat total is modest.

Bombirdier in Nuzlockes

Bombirdier can be a strong Nuzlocke encounter because it arrives fully evolved and immediately offers two immunities, several resistances, respectable 70/85/85 bulk, and useful offensive stats. Ground immunity in particular creates safe switch opportunities against predictable moves, while Sucker Punch can finish dangerous weakened opponents before they attack. Rocky Payload improves damage without recoil, making Rock coverage appealing when it secures a knockout, whereas Brave Bird's one-third recoil can turn an otherwise safe victory into dangerous accumulated damage and should be used selectively. Roost substantially improves long-term reliability when available, and Knock Off or Taunt can reduce threats without demanding a risky all-out attack. Its four common weaknesses—Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock—mean blind switching is still dangerous, especially against coverage moves. Compared with frailer offensive birds, Bombirdier offers a useful margin for error, but conservative move choice is important if Brave Bird is part of the set.

Bombirdier Biology and Behavior

Bombirdier is a stork-like Pokémon with a long apron formed from shed feathers hanging from its chest. While flying, it grips the end of this apron in its beak and uses it to carry food—including Basculin—back to its nest. It also collects rocks and other objects in the apron and deliberately drops them from high places for amusement, especially favoring objects that make loud noises when they land. This object-dropping behavior is reflected directly in its signature ecological identity and in its unique Rocky Payload Ability.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
