Dedenne Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Dedenne in a Playthrough
Dedenne is a single-stage Electric/Fairy Pokemon with base 101 Speed, 81 Special Attack, and otherwise modest stats. Thunderbolt, Volt Switch, Dazzling Gleam, Grass Knot, Nuzzle, Charm, Super Fang in older movepools, and support such as Thunder Wave or Eerie Impulse give it utility even when its damage output is limited. Cheek Pouch restores one-third of Dedenne's maximum HP after it eats a Berry in addition to the Berry's normal effect, Pickup can recover or acquire used items in specific situations, and the Hidden Ability Plus raises Special Attack by 50 percent in doubles when an ally has Plus or Minus. Electric/Fairy grants a Dragon immunity and resistances to Electric, Fighting, Flying, Bug, and Dark, while only Ground and Poison are super effective. Timid is usually ideal because Dedenne's best defensive quality is its Speed rather than its 67/57/67 bulk. It is a useful utility Pokemon in ordinary play but should not be mistaken for a high-powered sweeper.
Dedenne in Competitive Pokémon
Dedenne has historically been a very low-tier competitive Pokemon. Its Electric/Fairy typing is genuinely useful and base 101 Speed is respectable, but base 81 Special Attack, poor physical bulk, and shallow offensive coverage leave it badly outclassed by stronger Electric-types in most formats. Smogon's XY analysis explicitly describes it as poor even in PU, where faster or stronger alternatives such as Raichu and Zebstrika generally perform the offensive role better. Its more defensible niches come from utility: Nuzzle provides perfectly accurate paralysis while dealing chip damage, Volt Switch creates momentum, and Cheek Pouch can make Berry-based support sets surprisingly difficult to remove immediately. Dedenne is therefore best evaluated honestly as a situational support Pokemon rather than overstating its competitive relevance.
Dedenne in Nuzlockes
Dedenne can still be useful in a Nuzlocke because its typing supplies a Dragon immunity and only two weaknesses. Nuzzle is especially valuable because it deals damage while guaranteeing paralysis, providing safe speed control without depending on Thunder Wave accuracy or prediction. Cheek Pouch can produce a large emergency heal when a Sitrus or other restorative Berry activates, increasing survivability beyond the mediocre defensive stats. Ground and Poison attacks are the main dangers, and strong neutral physical hits can also be threatening because base 57 Defense is low. Timid is usually safest, and Dedenne is most effective when used to control speed, pivot with Volt Switch, and exploit immunities rather than trying to trade direct damage.

Its whiskers serve as antennas. By sending and receiving electrical waves, it can communicate with others over vast distances.
It uses its tail to absorb electricity from power plants or from outlets in houses, and then it fires the electricity from its whiskers.
It sneaks into people’s homes and steals electricity from their outlets. When your electric bill seems off, it’s the handiwork of this rascal.
Its upper whiskers are sensors that survey its surroundings. Its lower whiskers are organs that shoot electricity.
A Dedenne’s whiskers pick up electrical waves other Dedenne send out. These Pokémon share locations of food or electricity with one another.
Since Dedenne can’t generate much electricity on its own, it steals electricity from outlets or other electric Pokémon.

Dedenne Biology and Behavior
Dedenne's upper whiskers function like antennae that send and receive electrical signals, allowing individuals to communicate over long distances and share information about food or sources of electricity. Its lower whiskers discharge electricity directly. Because Dedenne's own electrical organ is underdeveloped, it often steals electricity from other Electric-type Pokemon or plugs its tail into household outlets and electrical infrastructure. When its charge runs low, it curls up and sleeps until it can replenish its stored energy.

Dedenne Size Comparison: BETA
Dedenne is listed at 0' 8" (0.2 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Dedenne currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
