Igglybuff's Weaknesses and Resistances

Evolution Chain

Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff by leveling up high friendship, and Jigglypuff evolves into Wigglytuff with a Moon Stone.

Igglybuff Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Igglybuff in a Playthrough

The Jigglypuff line is defined by very high HP, broad move compatibility, and utility rather than Speed or strong defensive stats. Wigglytuff can learn attacks from many different types through TMs and other move systems, allowing it to cover gaps in a playthrough team, but its low Speed and relatively weak defenses mean that its enormous HP does not make it as durable as the number alone suggests. From Generation VI onward, Normal/Fairy typing adds valuable Dragon immunity and useful Fighting and Dark matchups, substantially improving the line's defensive role. Igglybuff is generally inconvenient for ordinary play because of its very low stats and friendship evolution, while obtaining Jigglypuff directly and evolving it with a Moon Stone bypasses much of that weak early stage.

Igglybuff in Competitive Pokémon

Wigglytuff has historically been a lower-tier utility Pokemon rather than a major offensive or defensive threat. Its large HP pool and broad movepool allow it to provide support such as Stealth Rock while carrying enough coverage to avoid being completely passive, and the ability Competitive can sharply increase its Special Attack when an opponent lowers one of its stats. Its poor Defense, Special Defense, and Speed significantly reduce the practical value of its enormous HP, however, and stronger Fairy-types or dedicated support Pokemon frequently perform its jobs more efficiently. Jigglypuff itself has occasionally occupied specialized support niches in formats where its own abilities and item access matter, but Wigglytuff remains the line's primary conventional competitive form.

Igglybuff in Nuzlockes

The Jigglypuff line is highly dependent on game and resource availability in Nuzlockes. In FireRed and LeafGreen, community evaluations are generally unfavorable because Jigglypuff begins weak, Wigglytuff's huge HP is undermined by mediocre defensive stats, and much of its useful coverage requires valuable TMs that can often be invested more effectively elsewhere. Sleep support can provide emergency utility, but Sing's imperfect accuracy makes it less reliable as a safety tool than more accurate sleep moves. Later games improve the line considerably through Fairy typing and broader move availability, but it remains a flexible role-filler rather than an especially safe or efficient default team member.

Igglybuff Biology and Behavior

Igglybuff's body is extremely soft and elastic, causing it to move primarily by bouncing rather than walking; once it builds momentum, it can have difficulty stopping. As it moves, it produces sweat with a sweet fragrance that is described as calming the emotions of nearby opponents. Its vocal cords are still underdeveloped, so prolonged singing can give it a sore throat despite its instinct to practice frequently. Wild Igglybuff live around grasslands near freshwater streams, whose water they use to gargle and soothe their throats.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.

Igglybuff currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
