Magmortar Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Magmortar in a Playthrough
The Magmar line is a special-oriented Fire line with strong immediate offense once it reaches Magmar and even greater power as Magmortar. Magmar combines good Special Attack and Speed with Fire STAB and useful coverage, while Magmortar raises Special Attack substantially and broadens the wallbreaking role at the cost of some Speed. Magmortar normally requires trading Magmar while it holds a Magmarizer, making Magmar the realistic final stage in many games. The line is effective against Grass-, Bug-, Ice-, and Steel-types but must respect common Water-, Ground-, and Rock-type attacks.
Magmortar in Competitive Pokémon
Magmortar's principal competitive niche is special wallbreaking. High Special Attack and broad coverage let it punish common Fire-resistant switch-ins, while Vital Spirit can create opportunities against sleep moves and Flame Body can punish contact on more defensive uses. Its only moderate Speed and susceptibility to entry hazards limit its ability to enter battle repeatedly. Magmar has occasionally used Eviolite or its better Speed in lower formats, but Magmortar provides the line's greatest conventional offensive ceiling.
Magmortar in Nuzlockes
Magmar is a useful but often late-arriving Nuzlocke Fire-type, particularly in games where alternative Fire encounters are scarce. Its special power and reasonable Speed allow it to defeat favorable targets quickly, but it is not bulky enough to switch casually into strong neutral attacks. Magmortar improves damage and overall bulk if the trade-item evolution is practical, though it remains slower than Magmar. In Kanto, late availability means the line has less opportunity to influence the run than its battle statistics alone would suggest.

Magmortar Biology and Behavior
Magmortar possesses an internal organ resembling a magma chamber and can retract the claws on its hands to form pressurized arm cannons. These cannons fire temperatures above 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit, hot enough to melt iron, although Magmortar avoids using the full attack while hunting prey. Sustained firing can begin melting its own arms, and pairs of Magmortar inhabit volcanic craters; humans also use the species industrially for metal processing.

Magmortar Size Comparison: BETA
Magmortar is listed at 5' 3" (1.6 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Magmortar currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
