Mienshao Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Mienshao in a Playthrough
Mienfoo evolves into Mienshao at level 50, so the family takes a long time to reach its final form but rewards the wait with an excellent fast Fighting-type. Mienshao has base 125 Attack, 105 Speed, and a usable base 95 Special Attack, letting it use High Jump Kick, Drain Punch, U-turn, Fake Out, Stone Edge, Acrobatics, Knock Off in later games, and mixed coverage such as Aura Sphere or special moves where useful. Regenerator is often the most practical ability because switching out restores one-third of Mienshao's maximum HP, offsetting chip from Life Orb, hazards, or repeated pivoting; Reckless instead boosts recoil and crash moves such as High Jump Kick, while Inner Focus prevents flinching. High Jump Kick offers enormous damage but is dangerous in story play because a miss or failed hit causes crash damage, so Drain Punch or another reliable Fighting move is often safer when the extra power is unnecessary. Pure Fighting is weak to Flying and Psychic in Generation V and gains a Fairy weakness from Generation VI onward. Jolly is usually ideal because preserving base 105 Speed helps Mienshao avoid damage altogether.
Mienshao in Competitive Pokémon
Mienshao was one of BW UU's premier offensive pivots. Base 125 Attack and 105 Speed let it pressure most of the tier with High Jump Kick, while U-turn and Regenerator formed an unusually efficient hit-and-run core: Mienshao could attack, pivot out, and recover one-third of its HP each time it left the field. Reckless offered an alternative that made High Jump Kick even more destructive, and its usable base 95 Special Attack allowed mixed sets to punish physical answers with coverage such as Hidden Power Ice in the era. Mienshao also had a small BW OU niche as a Choice Scarf revenge killer because its Speed and coverage let it pick off boosted or naturally fast threats. Its poor 65/60/60 bulk is the enduring limitation, making prediction and momentum far more important than defensive switching. Later generations continued to use Mienshao as a lower-tier pivot and wallbreaker, with Regenerator remaining one of the best abilities for sustaining an otherwise frail offensive Pokemon.
Mienshao in Nuzlockes
Mienshao is excellent at ending favorable Nuzlocke matchups quickly, but it is much less forgiving when an opponent survives. Base 105 Speed and 125 Attack reduce the number of turns in which something can go wrong, while Regenerator can restore large amounts of health just by switching and is particularly valuable over long routes. High Jump Kick is extremely risky under permadeath rules because missing or striking an immune target causes severe crash damage, so Drain Punch is usually the safer Fighting STAB whenever it secures the same knockout. Flying, Psychic, and later Fairy attacks remain dangerous because Mienshao's defenses are only base 60. Jolly Mienshao is safest when used as a fast attacker and pivot rather than as a Pokemon expected to absorb neutral hits.

Mienshao Biology and Behavior
Mienshao is a disciplined martial artist that uses the long fur on its arms like flexible whips during combat. Before attacking, it may produce a distinctive wail, then strike with extremely fast chains of blows. When facing a genuinely powerful opponent, Mienshao can bite away portions of its own arm fur to reduce weight and move even faster. It is generally portrayed as respectful and focused, frequently training alongside its Trainer rather than behaving as aggressively as Mienfoo.

Mienshao Size Comparison: BETA
Mienshao is listed at 4' 7" (1.4 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Mienshao currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
