Pawniard Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Pawniard in a Playthrough
Pawniard evolves into Bisharp at the very late level 52, and in Paldea Bisharp evolves into Kingambit after defeating three wild Bisharp that are holding Leader's Crests and then leveling up. The entire family is Dark/Steel, giving it an excellent resistance profile plus Psychic and Poison immunities, but Fighting deals quadruple damage and Fire and Ground are also super effective. Bisharp has base 125 Attack and 70 Speed, while Kingambit trades Speed for much greater bulk and power with base 100 HP, 135 Attack, 120 Defense, and only base 50 Speed. Iron Head, Night Slash or Knock Off in relevant generations, Sucker Punch, Kowtow Cleave on Kingambit, Swords Dance, Low Kick, and other physical coverage give the line excellent offensive tools. Defiant raises Attack by two stages whenever an opponent lowers one of its stats, while Kingambit's signature Supreme Overlord boosts the power of its moves by 10 percent for each fainted ally, up to five. Adamant is usually ideal, though Jolly can help Bisharp and slower Kingambit variants; the biggest story drawback is the extremely late and specialized evolution path.
Pawniard in Competitive Pokémon
Bisharp already had a strong competitive identity before Kingambit existed. Defiant, Swords Dance, powerful Dark and Steel STAB, and Sucker Punch made it an effective lower-tier breaker in BW and a much more prominent threat in later generations, especially once Knock Off became stronger and Defog became widespread because Defiant could punish attempted stat drops from hazard removal. Kingambit then elevated the family into one of SV OU's defining offensive forces. Base 135 Attack, excellent 100/120/85 bulk, Swords Dance, Kowtow Cleave, Iron Head, and powerful STAB Sucker Punch compensate for base 50 Speed, while Supreme Overlord grows stronger as teammates faint and can turn Kingambit into an extraordinary late-game cleaner. Smogon has described Kingambit as one of the most influential Pokemon in SV OU and subjected it to a suspect test because its bulk, priority, Supreme Overlord, and Terastallization interactions could singlehandedly reshape endgames. It remained legal after that process and is still OU, making this one of the clearest examples of a later evolution dramatically raising an older family's competitive ceiling.
Pawniard in Nuzlockes
The Pawniard family is very powerful in Nuzlockes once fully evolved because Dark/Steel provides two immunities and many resistances, and both Bisharp and Kingambit can threaten one-hit knockouts with excellent Attack. Sucker Punch is valuable priority but requires the opponent to choose an attacking move, so it should not be treated as guaranteed speed control against setup or status users. The quadruple Fighting weakness is the critical danger: even weak Fighting coverage can kill Bisharp or Kingambit unexpectedly, and Fire or Ground attacks are also serious threats. Kingambit is far more forgiving than Bisharp against neutral physical damage because of 100 HP and 120 Defense, while Supreme Overlord can create strong comeback potential if the run has already suffered losses. The practical drawback is availability—Pawniard reaches Bisharp only at level 52, and Kingambit's Leader's Crest evolution requirement exists only in games that support that later evolution.

It uses river stones to maintain the cutting edges of the blades covering its body. These sharpened blades allow it to bring down opponents.

Pawniard Biology and Behavior
Pawniard hunts in packs led by Bisharp and obeys its leader even when an attack leaves it injured. It clings to prey and repeatedly stabs with the blades covering its body, then sharpens those blades afterward on favored stones found near rivers. Damage to the blades can be fatal, making maintenance of its metal body a matter of survival rather than appearance. Every member of a pack trains with the ambition of eventually becoming a leader.

Pawniard Size Comparison: BETA
Pawniard is listed at 1' 8" (0.5 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
