Persian Forms
Persian Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Persian in a Playthrough
The Meowth family varies substantially by regional form. Kantonian Persian is extremely fast and has a broad utility movepool, but its modest offensive stats often leave it dependent on strong Normal STAB and TM coverage; Meowth itself can also provide unusual out-of-battle utility through Pickup in games where it has the ability and extra money through Pay Day. Alolan Persian trades Normal typing for Dark and combines high Speed with Fur Coat, giving it much greater physical durability and useful support options such as Parting Shot, although evolving Alolan Meowth normally requires high friendship. Galarian Meowth instead evolves into Perrserker, a slower but much stronger physical attacker with 110 Attack, 100 Defense, Steel typing, and immediate access to Iron Head upon evolution in later games. Perrserker's numerous resistances and abilities such as Battle Armor or Tough Claws generally make the Galarian branch the most naturally suited to taking hits and dealing direct physical damage.
Persian in Competitive Pokémon
The three branches of the Meowth family have developed very different competitive identities. Kantonian Persian was notably threatening in Generation I because its exceptional Speed and the game's critical-hit mechanics made Slash an extremely reliable source of critical-hit damage, but in later generations it has generally become a lower-tier fast utility attacker using options such as Knock Off and U-turn while being outclassed in raw power. Alolan Persian has a clearer modern support niche: Fur Coat greatly improves its physical bulk, while its high Speed and Parting Shot allow it to weaken an opponent's offenses while safely bringing in a teammate. Perrserker functions primarily as a physical attacker or pivot, using 110 Attack with Tough Claws to strengthen contact moves or Steely Spirit to strengthen Steel attacks for itself and allies, while U-turn helps maintain momentum. None of the modern forms are broadly dominant, but Alolan Persian's defensive pivoting and Perrserker's physical power give them more specialized identities than standard Persian.
Persian in Nuzlockes
Kantonian Meowth and Persian provide Speed and utility but are relatively fragile, and FireRed and LeafGreen community analysis generally regards Persian as usable but outclassed by stronger Normal-types such as Raticate and Snorlax. Meowth can still have unusual strategic value through Pickup, while Persian's Speed and access to coverage such as Shadow Ball can make selected matchups safer if it attacks first. Alolan Persian is substantially better at absorbing physical attacks when it has Fur Coat, and Parting Shot can reduce risk by weakening an opponent before switching to another teammate. Perrserker offers perhaps the most Nuzlocke-friendly defensive profile of the branches: Steel typing provides numerous resistances, 100 Defense supports physical switching, and Battle Armor completely prevents critical hits, while Tough Claws offers a more offensive alternative. Its low Speed and weaker Special Defense still require caution against strong Ground-, Fire-, Fighting-, and special attacks.

Persian Biology and Behavior
Persian is a quiet-moving feline predator whose sensitive whiskers detect subtle changes in surrounding air currents, allowing it to locate moving prey. It communicates some intentions through body language, including raising its tail immediately before pouncing, and its retractable claws and lithe musculature let it approach almost silently. Despite being prized as a pet for its elegant appearance, Persian is described as fickle, temperamental, and capable of scratching even its Trainer with little provocation. Its forehead jewel makes it desirable to wealthy owners but has also caused wild Persian to be targeted by hunters.

Persian Size Comparison: BETA
Persian is listed at 3' 3" (1.0 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
