Zweilous Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Zweilous in a Playthrough
Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50 and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64, giving this family the highest level requirement for a final evolution achieved purely by leveling. The payoff is substantial: Hydreigon is a Dark/Dragon mixed attacker with base 125 Special Attack, 105 Attack, 98 Speed, and balanced 92/90/90 bulk. Draco Meteor or Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse provide powerful special STAB, while Flamethrower or Fire Blast, Surf, Earth Power, Flash Cannon, U-turn, and later Nasty Plot give it exceptional coverage and wallbreaking flexibility. Levitate grants a Ground immunity in addition to Dark's Psychic immunity, while Deino and Zweilous are forced to use Hustle, which boosts physical Attack by 50 percent but lowers physical move accuracy to 80 percent of normal. In Generation V Hydreigon is weak to Fighting, Bug, Ice, and Dragon; from Generation VI onward Fairy becomes a quadruple weakness. Timid is usually ideal for special offense, while Modest maximizes damage when Speed control is available.
Zweilous in Competitive Pokémon
Hydreigon was an OU Pokemon in BW and remains one of Generation V's most versatile special attackers. Base 125 Special Attack, 98 Speed, Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, Earth Power, Surf, U-turn, and strong mixed options give it coverage against nearly every conventional defensive answer, while Levitate adds Ground immunity and protection from Spikes. Smogon notes that Hydreigon's excellent coverage and defensive utility give it a real OU niche even though faster Dragons and Psychic-types compete heavily for team slots. Fairy typing significantly changed its later-generation outlook by creating a quadruple weakness, but Hydreigon remained an important UU-level breaker and pivot across several generations; current SV tiering still places it in UU with viable OU, Monotype, Battle Stadium, and VGC applications. Nasty Plot in later movepools adds another dangerous route, allowing Hydreigon to transform from a flexible Choice or pivot attacker into a dedicated special sweeper. Its recurring limits are the awkward base 98 Speed tier and vulnerability to common Fighting, Dragon, Ice, and especially Fairy attacks.
Zweilous in Nuzlockes
The Deino family can eventually become one of the strongest Nuzlocke encounters in a game, but reaching Hydreigon is itself a major survival challenge. Deino does not evolve until level 50 and Zweilous until level 64, leaving the player with two imperfect middle stages for much longer than almost any other three-stage family. Both Deino and Zweilous are forced to use Hustle, so physical attacks can miss at dangerous moments; special moves do not suffer Hustle's accuracy penalty and can sometimes be safer even before Hydreigon's special-oriented final stats arrive. Once evolved, Hydreigon gains Levitate, two useful immunities, excellent coverage, and enough bulk to survive many neutral attacks, but Fairy moves from Generation VI onward deal quadruple damage. Timid Hydreigon with reliable special attacks is generally safer than recoil-free but inaccurate or overly prediction-dependent options.

Since their two heads do not get along and compete with each other for food, they always eat too much.

Zweilous Biology and Behavior
Zweilous has two heads with separate personalities, preferences, and appetites, and the pair constantly compete with one another. Each head tries to establish dominance by eating more than the other, causing Zweilous to overeat and often leaving it covered in scars from internal fighting even when no outside enemy is present. Once the food supply in an area is exhausted, the Pokemon migrates elsewhere while the heads argue over which direction to travel. Giving unequal attention to the two heads can provoke jealousy and fighting.

Zweilous Size Comparison: BETA
Zweilous is listed at 4' 7" (1.4 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale because large or floppy ears can extend above the substantial head.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Zweilous is currently tagged for large ears.
