Arctovish Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Arctovish in a Playthrough
Arctovish is restored from a Fossilized Fish and a Fossilized Dino and has no evolution, giving it a complete defensive stat profile immediately after restoration. Its Water/Ice typing provides strong offensive STAB coverage but is much less comfortable defensively than Dracovish's Water/Dragon combination, leaving weaknesses to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock and only Water and Ice resistances. Fishious Rend again defines the species: the 85-power Water move doubles if Arctovish moves first, but base 55 Speed makes that condition difficult without dedicated support. The Hidden Ability Slush Rush solves that problem by doubling Speed in hail, while Ice Body instead restores HP each turn in hail and Water Absorb turns Water attacks into healing, giving Arctovish three genuinely different weather or defensive identities. Freeze-Dry is especially useful alongside Water STAB because it hits Water-types super effectively and uses Arctovish's workable base 80 Special Attack, while Icicle Crash, Crunch, Psychic Fangs, Rock Slide, and other moves provide mixed or physical coverage. Base 90 HP, 100 Defense, and 90 Special Defense give Arctovish the best all-around raw bulk of the four fossils, but the awkward typing and low Speed mean those numbers do not automatically make it the safest of them. For a story run, Water Absorb is the simplest defensive Ability, whereas a deliberately built hail team can transform Slush Rush Arctovish into a much faster attacker capable of exploiting Fishious Rend properly.
Arctovish in Competitive Pokémon
Arctovish never approached Dracovish's OU-level dominance, but it became a serious lower-tier threat and ultimately finished Sword/Shield in ZUBL rather than ordinary ZU. The underlying idea was the same as Dracovish's: Fishious Rend doubles from 85 to 170 base power when Arctovish attacks first, but Arctovish lacks Strong Jaw and has only base 55 Speed, so it needed Slush Rush and hail to recreate the terrifying speed-plus-power interaction. Under hail, Slush Rush doubled its Speed and enabled Choice Band or other offensive sets to overwhelm many conventional Water checks, while Freeze-Dry punished opposing Water-types that could otherwise absorb or resist Fishious Rend. Arctovish had already caused tiering problems earlier in the generation, including a PU quickban, and a later SS ZU suspect process concluded with Arctovish residing in ZUBL. Its lower-tier success illustrates why raw tier labels need context: outside hail, Arctovish is a slow Water/Ice Pokémon with common weaknesses, but automatic weather transformed it into a breaker whose strongest move was specifically rewarded for winning the Speed interaction. Water Absorb and Ice Body offered defensive alternatives, but neither reproduced the offensive pressure that made Slush Rush the competitively defining Ability. Like the other Galar fossils, Arctovish is unavailable in Scarlet/Violet and Legends: Z-A, so there is no ordinary Generation IX usage-tier continuation of its SS history.
Arctovish in Nuzlockes
Arctovish has excellent raw bulk for a Nuzlocke, with 90 HP, 100 Defense, and 90 Special Defense, but Water/Ice has enough common weaknesses that it should still be used as a matchup specialist rather than a universal tank. Water Absorb is extremely safe when the opponent is known to use Water attacks, creating both immunity and healing, while Ice Body can provide gradual recovery in hail and Slush Rush offers the strongest offensive snowball potential. Fishious Rend is perfectly accurate and very strong even before its doubling condition, but base 55 Speed means the player should not plan around 170 power unless Slush Rush or another form of speed control is active. Freeze-Dry is one of Arctovish's most valuable reliable moves because it threatens Water-types without depending on Fishious Rend speed order and has perfect accuracy. Icicle Crash is stronger physical Ice STAB but carries a 10% miss chance, and Blizzard should normally be reserved for hail because 70% accuracy is unnecessarily dangerous outside guaranteed-weather accuracy. Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock attacks are the key threats, and Stealth Rock can also punish repeated switching because Arctovish is Ice-type. When weather is controlled, Slush Rush can convert Arctovish from a slow bulky Pokémon into a fast cleaner; without weather, Water Absorb and careful defensive switching are usually the safer permadeath strategy.

Though it’s able to capture prey by freezing its surroundings, it has trouble eating the prey afterward because its mouth is on top of its head.
The skin on its face is impervious to attack, but breathing difficulties made this Pokémon go extinct anyway.

Arctovish Biology and Behavior
Arctovish is a reconstructed hybrid Fossil Pokémon whose fish-like head has been attached upside down to a cold-adapted marine lower body, placing its mouth on the top of its head. It captures prey by freezing the surrounding area, but the misplaced mouth makes actually eating that prey difficult afterward. The skin covering its face is described as impervious to attack, giving the head extraordinary physical protection despite the body's other anatomical problems. Galar's Pokédex claims that breathing difficulties eventually caused its extinction, but because Arctovish is assembled from two separate fossil creatures, that explanation is best treated as an uncertain reconstruction story rather than definitive evidence of how a natural ancient species died out.

Arctovish Size Comparison: BETA
Arctovish is listed at 6' 7" (2.0 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
