Braixen Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Braixen in a Playthrough

Fennekin evolves into Braixen at level 16 and Delphox at level 36, creating a Fire/Psychic special attacker with base 114 Special Attack, 104 Speed, and 100 Special Defense. Flamethrower or Fire Blast and Psychic or Psyshock provide reliable dual STAB, while Shadow Ball, Grass Knot, Dazzling Gleam in later games, Calm Mind, Will-O-Wisp, Mystical Fire, and utility such as Trick or screens give Delphox broad special flexibility. Blaze strengthens Fire moves at low HP, while the Hidden Ability Magician steals the target's held item after Delphox successfully hits it while holding no item; this can be useful but is less consistently powerful than many starter Hidden Abilities. Fire/Psychic resists Fire, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Psychic, Steel, and Fairy but is weak to Water, Ground, Rock, Ghost, and Dark. Mega Delphox retains Fire/Psychic typing and rises to base 159 Special Attack, 125 Special Defense, and 134 Speed; current ability-enabled competitive data gives it Levitate, removing the Ground weakness entirely. Timid is usually ideal for both forms, while Modest is viable when extra damage matters more than speed.

Braixen in Competitive Pokémon

Standard Delphox was a strong XY RU offensive Pokemon. Base 114 Special Attack and 104 Speed, combined with Fire/Psychic STAB, Calm Mind, Psyshock, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball, and coverage, let it threaten both offensive and defensive teams. Its main obstacles were a Stealth Rock weakness, mediocre physical Defense, and common Dark-, Water-, Ground-, Ghost-, and Rock-type answers, while Magician was situational compared with stronger offensive abilities. Mega Delphox dramatically changes that ceiling in current play. Current Champions data places Mega Delphox in OU with base 159 Special Attack, 125 Special Defense, 134 Speed, and Levitate, which removes one of the base form's five weaknesses and gives it a Ground immunity; Nasty Plot, Flamethrower, Psyshock, Dazzling Gleam, Substitute, and broad special coverage make it an exceptionally dangerous special sweeper. The Mega's combination of extreme Speed, special power, and immunity-based entry opportunities gives it a competitive role far above standard Delphox's historical lower-tier status.

Braixen in Nuzlockes

Delphox is a strong Nuzlocke starter because it evolves on schedule, reaches base 104 Speed, and can often remove opponents with accurate special attacks before taking damage. Fire/Psychic provides useful resistances and high Special Defense, but Water, Ground, Rock, Ghost, and Dark attacks can still threaten it, especially physical ones aimed at base 72 Defense. Flamethrower and Psychic are safer than lower-accuracy alternatives when they already secure the knockout, while Will-O-Wisp can reduce the danger of physical attackers if accuracy risk is acceptable. Magician should not be relied on as a core survival mechanic because it requires Delphox to have no held item, which often means giving up a more dependable benefit. Mega Delphox becomes substantially safer thanks to base 125 Special Defense, 134 Speed, and Levitate, turning Ground attacks into free switch opportunities while leaving Water, Rock, Ghost, and Dark as the principal weaknesses.

Braixen Biology and Behavior

Braixen always carries a stick tucked into the fur of its tail. It ignites the stick through friction with its tail fur, then uses the resulting flame both as a weapon and as a communication tool, including drawing fiery circles in the air to warn of danger. The stick also has a calming effect on Braixen, giving the object emotional as well as practical importance. Its increasingly deliberate control of fire foreshadows the wand-like techniques of Delphox.

Braixen is listed at 3' 3" (1.0 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale because large or floppy ears can extend above the substantial head.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.

Braixen is currently tagged for large ears.
