Using Foongus in a Playthrough
Foongus evolves into Amoonguss at level 39, producing one of the slowest but most durable Grass/Poison support Pokemon in the series. Amoonguss has base 114 HP, 70 Defense, 80 Special Defense, and only base 30 Speed, with modest base 85 offenses that are secondary to its utility. Spore is its signature practical strength because it is normally 100 percent accurate, while Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, Clear Smog, Synthesis, Pollen Puff in later games, and Rage Powder in doubles provide healing, offense, stat-resetting, and redirection. Effect Spore can inflict poison, paralysis, or sleep on opponents that make contact, while the Hidden Ability Regenerator restores one-third of Amoonguss's maximum HP whenever it switches out. Grass/Poison resists Water, Electric, Fighting, Fairy from Generation VI onward, and Grass especially well, but is weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. In Generation VI onward, Grass-types, Overcoat users, and Safety Goggles users are immune to Spore and other powder moves, so Spore is not universally reliable even though its listed accuracy is perfect. Calm, Bold, or Sassy are strong defensive natures, and minimum Speed can be useful on Trick Room teams.
Foongus in Competitive Pokémon
Amoonguss has one of the most enduring support careers of any Generation V Pokemon. In BW it was officially an RU Pokemon but had a genuine OU niche because Regenerator, 114 HP, defensive Grass/Poison typing, and sleep support let it pivot repeatedly into threats such as Keldeo, Breloom, Politoed, Rotom-W, and Thundurus-T. Its doubles and VGC résumé is even stronger: Spore creates reliable sleep pressure, Rage Powder redirects attacks away from teammates, Clear Smog removes setup boosts, Pollen Puff can heal an ally, and Regenerator restores health whenever Amoonguss rotates out. Its base 30 Speed is often an asset under Trick Room because it can move before faster opponents once turn order is reversed. Amoonguss remains a relevant modern VGC support Pokemon in Regulation-era Scarlet and Violet despite low singles usage, which is a good example of how tier labels alone can understate a Pokemon's actual competitive importance. Its main limitations are passivity, common Fire- and Psychic-type threats, and the increasing number of mechanics that block powder moves.
Foongus in Nuzlockes
Amoonguss is extremely useful in Nuzlockes because its huge HP, good defensive typing, and Regenerator can let it recover large amounts of health simply by switching. Spore is one of the safest control moves available when the target is susceptible because it does not require damage or recoil and normally cannot miss, but from Generation VI onward Grass-types and several anti-powder effects are immune, so target knowledge matters. Giga Drain adds healing while attacking, while Clear Smog can erase dangerous setup boosts without relying on a stat move of its own. Effect Spore can occasionally inflict a helpful status condition but is random and should not be relied upon for survival. Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic attacks remain dangerous, and Amoonguss is so slow that it will usually take a hit before acting outside Trick Room.

No one knows what the Poké Ball–like pattern on Foongus means or why Foongus has it.
The spores released from this Pokémon’s hands are highly poisonous, but when thoroughly dried, the spores can be used as stomach medicine.

Foongus Biology and Behavior
Foongus is a small mushroom Pokemon whose cap closely resembles a Poké Ball. It uses that pattern to lure curious people and Pokemon close enough to release poisonous spores, although the disguise is not always convincing. Properly dried Foongus spores can be processed into stomach medicine. The species prefers damp habitats around trees and can move by hopping or even rolling on its cap.

Foongus Size Comparison: BETA
Foongus is listed at 0' 8" (0.2 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
