Breloom Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Breloom in a Playthrough
Shroomish evolves into Breloom at level 23, transforming a slow defensive Grass Pokemon into a Grass/Fighting physical attacker with an enormous base 130 Attack. In Generation III, Fighting attacks are physical and immediately exploit Breloom's strongest stat, while Grass moves are special and therefore use its much weaker Special Attack; the Generation IV physical/special split later gives it physical Grass STAB such as Seed Bomb. Breloom's most distinctive tool is Spore, a fully accurate sleep move, although in several games Shroomish must remain unevolved to a relatively high level to learn it, creating a genuine tradeoff between receiving Breloom's stat increase early and waiting for one of the best status moves in the series. Mach Punch provides priority, while Sky Uppercut, Brick Break, Seed Bomb, Drain Punch, and later Technician-boosted attacks can give Breloom tremendous damage for a Pokemon obtained so early. Its 60/80/60 bulk and weaknesses to Fire, Ice, Poison, Psychic, Fairy, and especially a quadruple Flying weakness make it much less safe defensively than its excellent offense suggests.
Breloom in Competitive Pokémon
Breloom has one of the strongest competitive histories among Hoenn's ordinary early-route families. It was already an ADV OU Pokemon because Spore provided perfectly accurate sleep and created free turns for an extraordinarily powerful Focus Punch from base 130 Attack, while Mach Punch gave it useful priority against weakened offensive threats. Generation IV added Poison Heal, allowing Toxic Orb Breloom to recover one-eighth of its maximum HP every turn while becoming immune to other major status conditions, supporting famous Substitute + Spore + Focus Punch or Leech Seed strategies that were extremely difficult for passive teams to wear down. Later Technician sets created another offensive identity by boosting Mach Punch, Bullet Seed, and other lower-power moves, while Swords Dance allowed Breloom to turn its priority into a genuine cleaning tool. Its low Speed, fragile special side, poor matchup against many Flying- and Psychic-types, and dependence on Spore opportunities prevent it from being universally dominant, but few Pokemon have combined sleep, priority, recovery, and base 130 Attack as effectively.
Breloom in Nuzlockes
Breloom can be an exceptional Nuzlocke encounter because Shroomish is obtainable relatively early in Hoenn, evolves at level 23, and eventually provides base 130 Attack alongside useful Grass/Fighting coverage. Spore is one of the safest moves available in permadeath play because guaranteed sleep can create free healing, switching, or attacking turns, but obtaining it may require deliberately delaying evolution in games where Shroomish learns the move much later than level 23. Poison Heal can be excellent when available because controlled poison becomes passive recovery instead of damage, although activating it safely and preserving enough HP still requires planning. Mach Punch can finish weakened enemies before they move, reducing risk, but Breloom itself is vulnerable to many common attack types and Flying moves deal quadruple damage. The line is therefore extremely rewarding when used with matchup knowledge: it can disable and eliminate dangerous opponents efficiently, but it is not bulky enough to survive careless exposure to unexpected coverage.

Breloom Biology and Behavior
Breloom combines fungal chemical defenses with a remarkably specialized boxing-like fighting style, using light springy footwork to close distance before striking with arms that can stretch far beyond their resting length. Its punching technique is described as equal or superior to that of professional human boxers, and some blows are delivered so quickly that they are almost impossible to see. Before attacking, Breloom can release poisonous or sleep-inducing spores through holes in its mushroom cap, incapacitating an opponent before moving into punching range. Clusters around the end of its tail are hardened toxic spores and are dangerous to eat, while the species itself feeds primarily on decomposing trees and other plant matter in warm, humid forests. Breloom's ecology therefore combines the diet of a decomposer with the defenses of a poisonous mushroom and the active combat behavior of a highly trained martial artist.

Breloom Size Comparison: BETA
Breloom is listed at 3' 11" (1.2 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
