Iron Leaves Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Iron Leaves in a Playthrough
Iron Leaves is a standalone Grass/Psychic Paradox Pokémon whose Scarlet/Violet availability is also limited to special Tera Raid events rather than a permanent Area Zero encounter. The most recent official distribution placed Psychic-Tera Iron Leaves in 5-star Pokémon Violet raids from December 19, 2025 through January 4, 2026, and the event allows only one capture per save across reruns; as of August 2026 that event is over, so new access depends on an already-caught specimen, trade, HOME, or a future distribution. Its base 130 Attack, 108 Special Defense, and 104 Speed create a fast physical attacker with useful special resilience, while Quark Drive can increase Attack or Speed under Electric Terrain or after Booster Energy activates. The signature Psyblade is a perfectly accurate 80-base-power physical Psychic attack whose power becomes 120 in Electric Terrain, creating excellent synergy with Miraidon or any other terrain setter that also activates Quark Drive. Leaf Blade provides powerful perfectly accurate Grass STAB with a high critical-hit ratio, Sacred Sword and Close Combat cover Steel- and Dark-types, and Swords Dance can raise Attack by two stages when a safe setup opportunity exists. Grass/Psychic carries a severe defensive cost: Iron Leaves is weak to Flying, Poison, Ghost, Fire, Ice, and Dark and takes 4× damage from Bug, making U-turn and other Bug attacks particularly dangerous. Jolly is usually the most practical Nature for leveraging base 104 Speed, while Adamant maximizes its substantial physical power.
Iron Leaves in Competitive Pokémon
Iron Leaves is currently RUBL in Scarlet/Violet, meaning it is banned from RU while not possessing enough usage for a standard higher usage tier. Swords Dance is the defining singles setup option, and Booster Energy can trigger Quark Drive immediately, allowing carefully constructed sets to raise Speed and then threaten a sweep with Leaf Blade, Psyblade, and Fighting or Electric coverage. Psyblade is especially dangerous alongside Electric Terrain because its base power rises from 80 to 120 at the same time Quark Drive activates, giving Miraidon-based or dedicated terrain teams a natural way to amplify both Iron Leaves's stats and its signature Psychic attack. Its high base 130 Attack and 104 Speed are strong for lower tiers, and historical RU discussion repeatedly identified Booster Energy plus Swords Dance as too difficult for the tier to manage, helping explain its continued RUBL status. The drawbacks are equally obvious: Grass/Psychic has seven weaknesses including a 4× Bug weakness, common U-turn users can exploit it brutally, and Iron Leaves lacks the broad immediate priority or defensive utility that makes some other Paradox attackers easier to fit. Leaf Blade and Psyblade are reliable and powerful, but using Close Combat lowers both defenses and Megahorn's 85% accuracy makes it a less consistent coverage choice. Iron Leaves has had much less enduring high-level VGC prominence than Walking Wake or the box Legendaries, so its competitive history is best described through its documented singles tiering niche rather than forcing a tournament résumé it does not possess.
Iron Leaves in Nuzlockes
Iron Leaves can be a strong Nuzlocke attacker if a legal event or transferred specimen is available, but like Walking Wake it is not currently a normal fresh-save encounter in Scarlet/Violet as of August 2026. Base 104 Speed, 130 Attack, and perfectly accurate Leaf Blade and Psyblade provide a reliable offensive foundation, while base 108 Special Defense lets Iron Leaves survive many neutral special attacks better than most fast physical sweepers. Psyblade becomes especially attractive under Electric Terrain because its power increases to 120 without sacrificing accuracy, and Quark Drive can simultaneously boost a key stat. Swords Dance can produce decisive sweeps against a known team, but the defensive typing makes blind setup dangerous: a 4× Bug weakness and ordinary weaknesses to Flying, Poison, Ghost, Fire, Ice, and Dark leave many common coverage moves capable of ending the run. Close Combat should be reserved for situations where the defensive drops will not matter on the following turn, while Megahorn's 85% accuracy is generally too risky when a safer move already covers the matchup. Leaf Blade's high critical-hit ratio can help break opposing defensive boosts without introducing accuracy variance, and Sacred Sword is particularly useful because it ignores the target's Defense and evasion stat changes. Iron Leaves is therefore safest as a fast, matchup-specific physical attacker rather than a Pokémon expected to absorb hits simply because its Special Defense is high.

Many of its physical characteristics match those of a Virizion from the future that was covered in a paranormal magazine.
According to the few eyewitness accounts that exist, it used its shining blades to julienne large trees and boulders.

Iron Leaves Biology and Behavior
Iron Leaves is a metallic stag-like Paradox Pokémon resembling Virizion, with glossy green armor, digital red eyes, and luminous sections along its forehead, neck leaves, and limbs. The glowing structures on its head and sides can extend into ethereal blades, and eyewitness accounts describe those blades slicing large trees and boulders into short, thin strips. When Iron Leaves sleeps, it powers itself down, causing the red energy on its head, leaves, and legs to turn black. Its origin remains unresolved in the same way as the other future Paradox species: AI Turo calls it a distant descendant of Virizion, while the Professor encountered at the Crystal Pool describes it as a Virizion counterpart from another timeline. The Violet Book records a matching creature roughly 200 years before Turo's time machine existed, leaving the mechanism by which it appeared in that era unexplained.

Iron Leaves Size Comparison: BETA
Iron Leaves is listed at 4' 11" (1.5 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
