Okidogi Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Okidogi in a Playthrough
Okidogi is a standalone Poison/Fighting Legendary Pokémon introduced in The Teal Mask. After Ogerpon has been caught and The Teal Mask's main storyline is completed, Okidogi reappears at Paradise Barrens as a fixed level-70 encounter, so it is a late DLC acquisition rather than a Pokémon that develops alongside the player. Its base 128 Attack and 115 Defense make it an excellent physical bruiser, while Poison/Fighting provides strong STAB coverage and useful resistances to Bug, Dark, Fighting, Grass, Poison, and Rock. Toxic Chain gives every damaging move a 30% chance to badly poison a susceptible target, allowing even ordinary attacks such as Drain Punch, Poison Jab, Knock Off, or Ice Punch to create long-term attrition without using Toxic separately. Drain Punch is especially valuable because it is perfectly accurate and converts Okidogi's high Attack into recovery, while Bulk Up can increase both Attack and Defense when a matchup safely allows setup. Its Hidden Ability Guard Dog prevents forced switching and turns an opposing Intimidate activation into a one-stage Attack boost instead of a drop, which can be particularly useful in doubles or against Intimidate-heavy trainers. The largest defensive flaw is a 4× Psychic weakness, joined by ordinary Ground and Flying weaknesses, and base 80 Speed means Okidogi will often need to take a hit before moving. Adamant suits straightforward physical offense, while Careful can reinforce the weaker special side for bulky Drain Punch or Bulk Up sets.
Okidogi in Competitive Pokémon
Okidogi is currently UUBL in Scarlet/Violet singles, meaning it is legal in OU but considered too strong for UU. Its main competitive strength is the combination of base 128 Attack, 88/115/86 bulk, Poison/Fighting typing, and either Toxic Chain or Guard Dog, allowing it to make progress even when it does not immediately score a knockout. Assault Vest sets use Drain Punch, Knock Off, Poison STAB, and coverage such as Ice Punch to absorb special hits while Toxic Chain threatens badly poisoned status on switch-ins, and Drain Punch offsets chip damage as Okidogi repeatedly trades blows. Bulk Up sets instead commonly use Guard Dog, turning Intimidate from a defensive answer into a potential Attack boost while also preventing phazing effects that would otherwise remove a setup Pokémon. Its Poison typing gives it useful matchups into Fairy-types and its Fighting STAB threatens Dark- and Steel-types, but Ground and Flying attacks remain dangerous and the 4× Psychic weakness can force defensive Terastallization. Okidogi has also shown that its niches translate into official doubles: it appeared on Cristhian Andrade's championship team at the 2024 São Paulo Regional, demonstrating that its bulk, physical pressure, and anti-Intimidate potential were viable at high-level VGC rather than merely theoretical. Its UUBL status accurately captures the overall picture—too potent and difficult to contain for UU, but more specialized and easier to exploit than the most consistently dominant OU staples.
Okidogi in Nuzlockes
Okidogi can be a very strong Nuzlocke capture if Legendary encounters are allowed, although its fixed level-70 post-story availability means it contributes mainly to late Teal Mask content, The Indigo Disk, and other endgame battles. Base 115 Defense, good HP, and several useful resistances make physical damage relatively manageable, while Drain Punch offers perfectly accurate STAB and immediate healing rather than requiring a separate recovery turn. Toxic Chain is useful passive insurance because any damaging move can badly poison a susceptible opponent, but its 30% trigger rate is too inconsistent to rely on when survival depends on status occurring that turn. Guard Dog is extremely attractive when available because it removes Intimidate as an Attack-reduction risk and prevents forced switching, allowing Okidogi to maintain Bulk Up boosts or a favorable matchup. The 4× Psychic weakness is the major survival hazard: an unexpected Psychic or Psyshock can overwhelm otherwise excellent bulk, while Ground and Flying coverage must also be respected. Gunk Shot's 80% accuracy and Close Combat or Superpower's defensive or offensive drawbacks make safer moves such as Poison Jab and Drain Punch preferable whenever they already secure the necessary knockout. Used against known physical or neutral matchups rather than blind special attackers, Okidogi combines strong damage, recovery, and defensive stability very effectively.

Okidogi Biology and Behavior
Okidogi is a muscular canine Legendary Pokémon whose most distinctive feature is the toxic chain wrapped around its neck. According to the history revealed through Pecharunt, Okidogi was once smaller and weaker; its desire for strength led it to accept Pecharunt's Binding Mochi, after which the toxic chain stimulated its muscles and transformed it into its present powerful physique while binding it to Pecharunt's will. It is a short-tempered ruffian capable of swinging the chain with enough force to pulverize what it strikes. Despite its greedy and arrogant behavior toward outsiders, Okidogi maintains a genuine working relationship with Munkidori and Fezandipiti, communicating privately with them and cooperating in battle. Kitakami's people long worshipped it as one of the Loyal Three and believed reverence for Okidogi could promote kindness and harmonious relations, a heroic reputation created by the community's mistaken understanding of its ancient conflict with Ogerpon.

Okidogi Size Comparison: BETA
Okidogi is listed at 5' 11" (1.8 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
