Iron Valiant Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Iron Valiant in a Playthrough
Iron Valiant is a standalone Fairy/Fighting Paradox Pokémon found naturally only in Pokémon Violet's Area Zero, primarily in the same hidden cave region that contains Roaring Moon in Scarlet; Scarlet players normally require trade, event, or Union Circle access. Its unusual 590 BST supports genuine physical, special, and mixed offense: base 130 Attack, 120 Special Attack, and 116 Speed are all excellent, allowing movesets to be built around Close Combat and Spirit Break, Moonblast and Focus Blast, or combinations that exploit both attacking stats. Quark Drive boosts its highest stat in Electric Terrain or after Booster Energy activates, and Speed-focused builds receive a 50% Speed increase rather than the 30% multiplier applied to other stats, making Iron Valiant one of Paldea's most dangerous late-game cleaners. Swords Dance, Calm Mind, Encore, Knock Off, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Psyshock, Vacuum Wave, and Destiny Bond give it exceptional flexibility, so the correct moves depend heavily on whether the player wants physical setup, special setup, mixed coverage, or utility. Fairy/Fighting grants a Dragon immunity and useful Bug, Dark, Fighting, and Rock resistances, but it is weak to Fairy, Flying, Poison, Psychic, and Steel and has only base 60 Special Defense, so strong special attacks can punish careless positioning. Close Combat's defensive drops and Focus Blast's 70% accuracy create real risks even when their power is attractive, while Moonblast and Spirit Break provide much safer routine Fairy damage. Jolly or Adamant suit physical builds, Timid or Modest suit special builds, and Naive or Hasty can be justified when a genuinely mixed set needs to preserve both attacking stats.
Iron Valiant in Competitive Pokémon
Iron Valiant remains OU and is one of the most versatile offensive Pokémon in Scarlet/Violet singles because opponents often cannot identify its counterplay from Team Preview alone. Base 130 Attack, 120 Special Attack, and 116 Speed support Swords Dance, Calm Mind, mixed Booster Energy, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, Encore utility, and priority-oriented sets, with each archetype threatening a different collection of defensive answers. Booster Energy Speed sets function as elite revenge killers and late-game cleaners because Quark Drive pushes Iron Valiant beyond the entire unboosted metagame and many already-boosted threats, while Moonblast and Close Combat give it powerful mixed STAB that cannot be handled by a single defensive stat. Calm Mind variants can use Shadow Ball or Thunderbolt to punish Fairy resists, Swords Dance sets exploit Knock Off and physical coverage, and Encore can convert Protect, recovery, or setup moves into free opportunities rather than merely adding another attack. The drawbacks are equally important: base 74 HP and especially base 60 Special Defense make it vulnerable to strong special priority or revenge killing, repeated entry can wear it down, and many sets become much easier to check once their fourth move or attacking orientation is revealed. Iron Valiant has had a smaller official VGC footprint than Chien-Pao, Chi-Yu, or Ting-Lu because singles better rewards its unpredictable one-on-one coverage and setup variety, but its Quark Drive, mixed offenses, Encore, Wide Guard, Spirit Break, and speed still give it situational doubles applications. Its sustained OU status is therefore based less on one overpowering mechanic than on extreme set diversity: preparing for one Iron Valiant set can leave a team exposed to another.
Iron Valiant in Nuzlockes
Iron Valiant is one of Violet's strongest late-game offensive Pokémon, but it should be treated as a fast attacker rather than a durable all-purpose switch-in. Base 116 Speed and either 130 Attack or 120 Special Attack allow it to remove many targets before they can respond, while Fairy typing gives complete Dragon immunity and useful resistance to Dark, Fighting, Bug, and Rock. Moonblast is a particularly safe special STAB because it is perfectly accurate, and Spirit Break offers similarly reliable physical Fairy damage while also lowering the target's Special Attack when it hits. Close Combat is powerful but lowers both defenses, Focus Blast is only 70% accurate, and Destiny Bond normally conflicts with the goal of preserving Iron Valiant, so competitive sets should not be copied blindly into a permadeath run. Calm Mind can improve Special Defense while increasing damage, making it safer than purely offensive setup against known special attackers, whereas Swords Dance provides greater immediate physical pressure but no defensive benefit. Booster Energy can make Speed-based sweeps exceptionally reliable, yet the item activates only once per battle and should not substitute for checking opposing priority or Choice Scarf users. Timid or Jolly builds generally maximize survival by moving first, while mixed Natures are worthwhile only when the additional coverage genuinely solves important matchups.

Iron Valiant Biology and Behavior
Iron Valiant is a robotic humanoid Paradox Pokémon combining major anatomical features of both Gardevoir and Gallade, including skirt-like armor, blade-equipped arms, and luminous head structures. Its arm blades can detach and join into a double-ended weapon, while it can alternatively leave them connected and rotate the entire upper half of its body independently from the lower half to attack. Iron Valiant is described as cruel and willing to cut down opponents without hesitation, contrasting sharply with the protective behavior associated with modern Gardevoir and Gallade. When sleeping it powers itself down and the normally pink energy across its blades, head structures, chest cannon, feet, and body turns black. Its true origin is unresolved: AI Turo describes it as a future descendant of both Gardevoir and Gallade, whereas the Professor encountered at the Crystal Pool calls it their counterpart from another timeline; Heath also recorded it roughly two centuries before Turo's time machine was created.

Iron Valiant Size Comparison: BETA
Iron Valiant is listed at 4' 7" (1.4 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
