Forms

Mewtwo Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Mewtwo in a Playthrough

Mewtwo is one of the strongest individual Pokemon available in any game, combining exceptional Special Attack and Speed with strong overall stats, Recover, setup, and an enormous coverage movepool. Its practical playthrough value is nevertheless usually low in the original Kanto structure because Mewtwo is a postgame encounter in Cerulean Cave, meaning it cannot contribute to the main story at all. In games or special modes where it is obtainable earlier, its statistical advantage can overwhelm ordinary story difficulty. Mega Mewtwo X shifts toward immense physical Attack and Psychic/Fighting typing, while Mega Mewtwo Y pushes special offense and Speed even further.

Mewtwo in Competitive Pokémon

Mewtwo has been an Ubers-level offensive threat throughout competitive Pokemon's history. Base 130 Speed, extremely high Special Attack, Recover, setup, and broad coverage make defensive answers difficult to construct, while its two Mega Evolutions allow entirely different physical or special wallbreaking approaches. Mega Mewtwo X uses Fighting typing and enormous Attack, whereas Mega Mewtwo Y emphasizes extreme Special Attack and Speed. Its flexibility and raw statistics, rather than a single gimmick, are the core reasons it has remained restricted to the highest-power formats.

Mewtwo in Nuzlockes

Mewtwo is normally irrelevant to a standard Kanto Nuzlocke because it is encountered only after becoming Champion, and many rulesets also prohibit legendary Pokemon. If a variant ruleset makes it available during meaningful progression, its Speed, power, Recover, and coverage make it one of the safest offensive Pokemon possible. It is not invulnerable, however, and physical Dark-, Ghost-, or Bug-type pressure can exploit its less exceptional defensive side depending on generation. The main limitation is therefore rules and timing rather than battle quality.

Mewtwo Biology and Behavior

Mewtwo is an artificial Pokemon created from Mew's genetic material through extensive laboratory experimentation and genetic manipulation, with Pokemon Mansion records documenting the project that produced it. The experiments were intended to create an extremely powerful Pokemon and are repeatedly associated with Mewtwo's aggressive, distrustful disposition. Animated portrayals expand its demonstrated abilities beyond ordinary battle moves, including telepathy, levitation, large-scale psychic manipulation, memory alteration, and the creation of severe storms.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
