Pignite Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Pignite in a Playthrough
Tepig evolves into Fire/Fighting Pignite at level 17 and then into Emboar at level 36, producing a slow but extremely strong mixed attacker with base 110 HP, 123 Attack, and 100 Special Attack. In the original Unova games the line uses Blaze, while its later Hidden Ability Reckless increases the power of recoil or crash moves by 20 percent and turns attacks such as Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, Head Smash, and other compatible options into even more extreme wallbreaking tools. Fighting STAB from Arm Thrust, Brick Break, Hammer Arm, Superpower, or other generation-specific moves combines well with Fire attacks, while Grass Knot, Scald in older movepools, Rock coverage, and Electric coverage can punish many conventional answers. The weaknesses are equally clear: base 65 Speed means Emboar is frequently hit before attacking, base 65 defenses are mediocre despite the huge HP stat, and many of its strongest attacks cause recoil or stat drops. Adamant maximizes physical damage, Jolly can salvage selected Speed matchups, and Brave or Quiet can support mixed or Trick Room strategies. Mega Emboar, introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, remains Fire/Fighting but rises to base 148 Attack, 110 Special Attack, 110 Special Defense, and 75 Speed with a 628 total; in ability-enabled data it gains Mold Breaker, creating a much stronger and more specially durable version of the same aggressive concept.
Pignite in Competitive Pokémon
Standard Emboar entered competitive play as a BW RU wallbreaker, where base 123 Attack, Fire/Fighting STAB, 110 HP, and coverage such as Wild Charge, Head Smash, and Grass Knot gave it ways to pressure the bulky Water-, Rock-, and Flying-types that attempted to stop its primary attacks. Smogon noted that it competed with established Fire-types such as Entei and Moltres, but Fighting STAB, neutrality to Stealth Rock, resistance to Sucker Punch, and the ability to attack from either side gave Emboar a distinct niche. The later release of Reckless sharpened that role by boosting several of the already powerful recoil moves in its arsenal, and SM placed Emboar in NUBL while it remained a dangerous RU wallbreaker despite competition from faster or more specialized Fighting- and Fire-types. Modern SV Smogon places standard Emboar in ZUBL, where it still succeeds by forcing progress with extremely strong attacks rather than through Speed or defensive consistency. Mega Emboar is too new to assign a mature historical tier résumé, but its confirmed 148 Attack, sharply improved Special Defense, and Mold Breaker in ability-enabled mechanics give it substantially better raw tools; any claim that it has already established the same kind of long competitive history as standard Emboar would be premature.
Pignite in Nuzlockes
Emboar's huge base 110 HP can absorb more punishment than its 65/65 defenses suggest, but its low base 65 Speed means it often takes that damage before getting to use its enormous Attack. The line's strongest moves are a major permadeath concern: Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash inflict recoil, Superpower lowers offensive and defensive stats, and Reckless makes recoil-based attacks even more powerful without making them any safer. Blaze can therefore be the more comfortable story ability even when Reckless is technically stronger, because ordinary reliable Fire and Fighting moves already benefit from Emboar's high Attack and do not require deliberately spending HP. Water, Ground, Psychic, and Flying attacks should be treated cautiously, especially from fast special attackers that target its mediocre Special Defense. Mega Emboar's much higher Special Defense and Attack improve the safety margin substantially where available, but it is still not fast and remains weak to the same four types; Adamant standard Emboar or a bulkier Mega can be excellent boss breakers when recoil is reserved for situations where it is genuinely necessary.

When its internal fire flares up, its movements grow sharper and faster. When in trouble, it emits smoke.
Whatever it eats becomes fuel for the flame in its stomach. When it is angered, the intensity of the flame increases.
The more it eats, the more fuel it has to make the fire in its stomach stronger. This fills it with even more power.

Pignite Biology and Behavior
Pignite maintains a fire inside its stomach and feeds that flame with the food it eats. Adding fuel or becoming angry makes the internal fire burn hotter, raising its body temperature and increasing its speed; at extreme intensity the body can become surrounded by a scorching fireball. When its stomach is empty, however, Pignite loses much of its strength because the fire has little fuel. It is fiercely protective of its friends and will confront opponents far stronger than itself to defend them. If escape is necessary, Pignite can release thick clouds of smoke to conceal its retreat.

Pignite Size Comparison: BETA
Pignite is listed at 3' 3" (1.0 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale because large or floppy ears can extend above the substantial head.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Pignite is currently tagged for large ears.
