Stufful's Weaknesses and Resistances

Evolution Chain

Stufful evolves into Bewear at level 27.

Stufful Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage

Using Stufful in a Playthrough

Stufful evolves into Bewear at level 27, giving the line an accessible final evolution and a major jump in HP and Attack before the late game. Bewear has base 120 HP and 125 Attack and combines Normal/Fighting STAB with coverage for Ghost-, Psychic-, Flying-, and other troublesome types depending on the generation, making it a powerful physical attacker without requiring complicated setup. Fluffy is its defining Ability: contact moves deal only half their normal damage, allowing Bewear to absorb many physical attacks far better than its base 80 Defense suggests, but Fire-type moves deal double damage to it, creating a major matchup-specific weakness. Drain Punch is particularly useful in a story playthrough because it provides reliable Fighting damage and converts Bewear's high Attack into recovery, while moves such as Double-Edge hit extremely hard but impose recoil that can become costly over multiple battles. Its base 60 Speed and 60 Special Defense are important weaknesses, so fast special attackers can bypass much of the physical safety created by Fluffy. Adamant is the most straightforward Nature for maximizing Bewear's wallbreaking power, while Impish can be useful on a deliberately physical-tank-oriented Fluffy set.

Stufful in Competitive Pokémon

Bewear established itself as a serious lower-tier wallbreaker immediately in Generation VII, where it was an RU Pokémon distinguished from other Fighting-types by the unusual defensive utility of Fluffy. Fluffy allowed it to switch into many contact-based physical attackers that would normally pressure an offensive Fighting-type, while base 125 Attack, Swords Dance, Choice Band, and powerful Normal/Fighting STAB let it punish the opponent heavily in return. Drain Punch could offset accumulated damage, whereas Double-Edge supplied enormous neutral power at the cost of recoil; Ghost coverage such as Shadow Claw or Darkest Lariat was important because Ghost-types were immune to both of Bewear's STAB types. In Sword and Shield it was classified NUBL while receiving substantial RU use, again functioning as a wallbreaker that exploited contact moves from Pokémon such as Golisopod, Steelix, and Registeel. Its flaws consistently prevented higher-tier stability: base 60 Speed is poor for an attacker, Special Defense is only base 60, and Fluffy effectively creates an additional Fire weakness, allowing fast special attackers to revenge kill it even when physical attackers struggle. Bewear is absent from standard Scarlet and Violet, so its established singles history currently ends with Generation VIII rather than extending into the ordinary Generation IX usage tiers.

Stufful in Nuzlockes

Bewear can be outstanding in a Nuzlocke if Fluffy is understood precisely rather than treated as a generic physical-defense boost. The Ability halves damage from contact moves, making many punches, bites, tackles, and other contact attacks remarkably safe, but it does not reduce every physical move and it doubles incoming Fire-type damage, so identifying the actual move being used matters more than simply identifying whether the opponent is physical. Its Normal typing also grants a valuable Ghost immunity, while Fighting adds resistances to Bug, Dark, and Rock, giving Bewear several reliable switch opportunities when coverage is known. High HP and Drain Punch provide excellent staying power, but base 60 Special Defense means strong special attacks can still cut through it quickly, especially because its low Speed commonly forces it to take the first hit. Double-Edge and other recoil attacks may secure impressive knockouts but are less attractive in permadeath play than slightly weaker options that preserve Bewear's long-term health. If Fluffy is unavailable, Bewear loses much of the safety that defines the species, so the Ability should be treated as an important part of its Nuzlocke evaluation rather than a minor bonus.

Despite its adorable appearance, when it gets angry and flails about, its arms and legs could knock a pro wrestler sprawling.

Moon

A touch from anyone except a known friend sends it into a surging frenzy. It’s an incredibly dangerous Pokémon.

Ultra Sun

It boasts power enough to split large trees in half. The organ on its rear releases an odor that it uses to communicate with others of its kind.

Ultra Moon

Stufful hates to be hugged or touched in any way. It will squirm, thrash, and resist with amazing power.

Sword

Its fluffy fur is a delight to pet, but carelessly reaching out to touch this Pokémon could result in painful retaliation.

Stufful Biology and Behavior

Stufful resembles a harmless plush toy, but the tag-like structure beneath its tail is actually an organ that releases an odor used to communicate with other members of its species. Its cute appearance and soft fur make it popular with people, yet Stufful strongly dislikes being touched or hugged. When restrained, it flails its arms with enough force to break thick tree trunks and can knock out even trained Pokémon that underestimate it. Pokémon Sleep material likewise depicts the species moving and flailing even while asleep, emphasizing that its unusual physical strength is present from an early stage rather than appearing only after evolution.

How is visual size determined?

Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.

For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.

The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.

Stufful currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
