Weavile Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Weavile in a Playthrough
The Sneasel family contains two very different evolutionary branches: Johtonian Sneasel is Dark/Ice and evolves into Weavile, while Hisuian Sneasel is Fighting/Poison and evolves into Sneasler. Original Sneasel is awkward in Generations II and III because both Dark and Ice attacks are special by type and therefore rely on its terrible base 35 Special Attack instead of its strong Attack; the Generation IV physical/special split and the introduction of Weavile completely transform the line into a natural physical attacker. Weavile combines base 120 Attack with base 125 Speed, strong physical Dark and Ice moves, Knock Off utility, and Ice Shard priority, but it is very fragile and carries a quadruple Fighting weakness; evolution traditionally requires leveling Sneasel at night while it holds a Razor Claw. Hisuian Sneasel instead evolves with the Razor Claw during the day into Sneasler, whose base 130 Attack and 120 Speed pair with Fighting/Poison STAB and the signature Dire Claw. Both branches reward attacking first rather than taking hits, but Weavile emphasizes Dark/Ice coverage and priority while Sneasler offers Fighting power, Poison pressure, and abilities such as Unburden.
Weavile in Competitive Pokémon
Weavile became one of the series' most successful fast physical attackers once the Generation IV split allowed Dark and Ice moves to use its base 120 Attack. Its base 125 Speed, Knock Off, strong Ice STAB, Ice Shard priority, and—in older formats—Pursuit allowed it to threaten or trap numerous Psychic-, Ghost-, Dragon-, and Ground-type staples; by Generation VIII it was a major OU threat built around Knock Off and Triple Axel. Sneasler created an even more explosive modern branch with base 130 Attack, base 120 Speed, Swords Dance, Fighting/Poison STAB, and Unburden, which can double its already excellent Speed after its held item is consumed or lost. Dire Claw adds an unusually disruptive dimension by potentially inflicting sleep, paralysis, or poison, and Sneasler's overall package has been powerful enough for Smogon's Generation IX singles formats to place it in Ubers. Both evolutions are held back by poor physical bulk and exploitable defensive weaknesses, but their Speed and offensive pressure have made the family far more competitively important than Generation II Sneasel originally suggested.
Weavile in Nuzlockes
The Sneasel family is powerful but unforgiving in a Nuzlocke because every branch relies heavily on Speed to avoid taking attacks in the first place. Johtonian Sneasel and Weavile have a Psychic immunity and useful Dark and Ice resistances, but their long weakness list includes a quadruple Fighting weakness, making unexpected coverage especially dangerous. Hisuian Sneasel and Sneasler instead resist Fighting, Grass, Poison, Rock, Dark, and Bug, but carry a quadruple Psychic weakness along with Ground and Flying weaknesses. Priority such as Ice Shard, excellent natural Speed, and strong physical attacks can make both final evolutions outstanding finishers, while Sneasler's Dire Claw can occasionally disable dangerous foes—but relying on a random status result is unsafe as a primary Nuzlocke plan. Evolution-item availability also matters because the Razor Claw and time-of-day requirement can delay the point at which either form reaches its full potential.

They travel in groups of four or five, leaving signs for one another on trees and rocks. They bring down their prey with coordinated attacks.
They dwell in cold places. This Pokémon’s main food source in Alola is Vulpix and Sandshrew, which they carefully divide among their group.
One Weavile will trip a Sandshrew and flip it over, and then another Weavile will deal the finishing blow with its sharp claws.
Thanks to its increased intelligence, scrapping over food is a thing of the past. A scratch from its claws will give you a case of frostbite!
They attack their quarry in packs. Prey as large as Mamoswine easily fall to the teamwork of a group of Weavile.
With its claws, it leaves behind signs for its friends to find. The number of distinct signs is said to be over 500.
This species corners prey as a pack, under the guidance of a leader. Weavile displays increased cunning, leading me to speculate that its evolution caused further brain development.

Weavile Biology and Behavior
Weavile is an intelligent pack predator of snowy environments whose brain becomes more highly developed after evolution from Sneasel. Groups of four or five hunt cooperatively under a leader and can bring down prey ranging from Alolan Sandshrew and Vulpix to animals as large as Mamoswine, dividing the catch among the pack afterward. The species communicates by carving signs into trees, rocks, and ice with its claws, and more than five hundred distinct patterns have been documented, indicating a remarkably sophisticated visual communication system. Its swordlike claws can inflict frostbite as well as physical wounds, and its speed and agility make escape difficult once a pack begins a coordinated pursuit. Even while asleep, Weavile has been observed making deliberate-looking gestures, possibly as a deception to keep nearby creatures from realizing that it is vulnerable.

Weavile Size Comparison: BETA
Weavile is listed at 3' 7" (1.1 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
