Lunatone Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Lunatone in a Playthrough
Lunatone is a Rock/Psychic special attacker and utility Pokemon whose stat distribution favors Special Attack and Special Defense rather than physical combat. Its base HP was raised from 70 to 90 beginning in Generation VII, while base 95 Special Attack and 85 Special Defense support Psychic, Psyshock, Power Gem, Ice Beam, Earth Power, and setup such as Calm Mind or Rock Polish depending on generation. Levitate is crucial to its defensive profile because Rock/Psychic would ordinarily be weak to Ground, but Lunatone is normally completely immune to Ground attacks while also resisting Fire, Flying, Normal, Poison, and Psychic. In Generation III, Psychic STAB already uses its stronger Special Attack but Rock moves are physical and therefore poorly matched with base 55 Attack; later special Rock moves such as Power Gem make the dual typing much more naturally offensive. Its numerous remaining weaknesses to Water, Grass, Bug, Ghost, Dark, and Steel and its modest physical Defense mean Lunatone is most useful when exploiting specific immunities and special matchups rather than acting as a general wall.
Lunatone in Competitive Pokémon
Lunatone was a legitimate ADV UU special threat, combining base 95 Special Attack, Levitate, Psychic STAB, Ice Beam, Hypnosis, and Calm Mind with the unusual ability to Baton Pass accumulated Calm Mind boosts to a teammate. It could therefore either attempt to sweep on its own after setup or convert a safe turn into support for another special attacker, while Reflect or Cosmic Power offered additional defensive utility. Later generations gave Lunatone special Rock STAB, Rock Polish, Stealth Rock, Earth Power, and eventually Meteor Beam, expanding its ability to function as a self-contained setup sweeper. Its competitive standing nevertheless declined as power creep exposed a difficult defensive typing and middling base 70 Speed, with common Water-, Dark-, Grass-, Ghost-, Bug-, and Steel-type attacks making setup increasingly difficult. Modern Lunatone is generally a lower-tier specialist, but its historical ADV role and combination of Levitate, special offense, and unusual setup options give it more competitive substance than its simple counterpart status might imply.
Lunatone in Nuzlockes
Lunatone can be a useful Nuzlocke specialist because Levitate gives it a complete Ground immunity and its good Special Defense lets it handle selected special attackers more comfortably than Solrock. Psychic offense is naturally effective against Fighting- and Poison-type opponents, while later special Rock moves and coverage such as Ice Beam or Earth Power broaden the list of targets it can threaten. Hypnosis can create free turns in games where available, but imperfect accuracy makes it a poor move to rely on when failure would result in a death, and setup with Calm Mind or Rock Polish should likewise be reserved for predictable opponents. Its long weakness list - Water, Grass, Bug, Ghost, Dark, and Steel under normal Levitate conditions - creates many dangerous matchups despite the Ground immunity. Lunatone is safest when brought into known Ground moves or special attacks it resists, then used to attack or set up before stronger physical threats can exploit its lower Defense.

Lunatone Biology and Behavior
Lunatone is a mysterious levitating rock Pokemon first discovered at the site of a meteor strike, leading to a persistent but unproven theory that the species may have arrived from outer space. It lives primarily in caves and becomes especially active during nights of the full moon, when moonlight increases its power and its overall health is said to reach a peak. The relationship is cyclical rather than merely behavioral: Pokedex accounts state that Lunatone's health itself waxes and wanes with the lunar phases. Its deep red eyes can transfix observers with paralyzing fear and are also capable of lulling opponents to sleep, giving the otherwise silent floating body an unexpectedly direct method of affecting other creatures. Lunatone moves by psychic levitation rather than walking, making its meteorite-like body, lunar dependence, and unexplained appearance on Earth central parts of one of the franchise's more overtly extraterrestrial species mysteries.

Lunatone Size Comparison: BETA
Lunatone is listed at 3' 3" (1.0 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
