Seviper Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Seviper in a Playthrough
Seviper is a single-stage pure Poison Pokemon with perfectly matched base 100 Attack and Special Attack, making it one of Hoenn's more naturally flexible mixed attackers. Generation III actually suits that balance well: Poison moves such as Sludge Bomb are physical and use Attack, while Dark moves such as Crunch are special and use Special Attack, and coverage such as Earthquake, Flamethrower, or Giga Drain can attack from whichever side fits best. Later generations preserve the mixed role after the physical/special split, with Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb, Earthquake, Flamethrower, Crunch, Giga Drain, and other coverage allowing Seviper to target different defensive stats. Shed Skin gives a chance to remove major status conditions at the end of each turn, which can occasionally rescue Seviper from paralysis, burn, poison, or sleep without consuming an item, while Infiltrator in later games can bypass Substitute and certain protective effects. Its offensive flexibility is balanced by base 65 Speed and only 73/60/60 bulk, so Seviper is dangerous when it gets a clean attacking turn but unreliable as a Pokemon expected to survive repeated hits.
Seviper in Competitive Pokémon
Seviper has historically occupied low competitive tiers, but its equal base 100 offenses and unusually broad movepool make it a genuinely unpredictable wallbreaker rather than a purely weak novelty. In ADV NU, physical Sludge Bomb and Earthquake could be paired with special Flamethrower, Crunch, Giga Drain, or Hidden Power, allowing Seviper to punish defensive Pokemon that expected to wall only one side of the attacking spectrum. Shed Skin also gives it occasional status absorption value against defensive teams, since burns, poison, paralysis, or sleep can disappear without Seviper needing to use Rest or switch. Later physical/special mechanics preserve that mixed attacking flexibility, but the surrounding metagames became much faster and stronger while Seviper remained at base 65 Speed with fragile defenses. Its niche is therefore offensive surprise and coverage: it can be difficult to switch into when positioned safely, but almost every faster attacker can threaten it in return.
Seviper in Nuzlockes
Seviper can be useful in a Nuzlocke because it arrives fully evolved, has no need for trade or item evolution, and can attack effectively from both the physical and special sides. Pure Poison typing gives useful resistances to Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug, and later Fairy while leaving only Ground and Psychic as conventional weaknesses, making its type chart relatively easy to plan around. Shed Skin can unexpectedly cure dangerous status and reduce long-term attrition, although a one-third activation chance should never be treated as guaranteed when a Pokemon's life depends on it. The greater danger is Seviper's low Speed and mediocre defenses: it often takes a hit before attacking, and strong Psychic, Ground, or even neutral attacks can overwhelm it quickly. It performs best as a targeted mixed attacker brought in through resistances or safe switches rather than as the team's primary defensive Poison-type.

Seviper Biology and Behavior
Seviper is a venomous grassland and savanna predator whose body bears scars from the same generations-long feud with Zangoose that defines its rival's behavior. Its sword-shaped tail is sharpened repeatedly against hard rocks until the edge becomes extremely keen, then coated with a powerful poison that allows the same structure to slash and envenom a target in one motion. The protruding fangs are venomous as well, giving Seviper two separate delivery systems for toxin during hunting or combat. It may hide motionless in tall grass before striking unsuspecting prey, and can wrap its long body around an opponent to restrict movement before using its fangs or bladed tail. Seviper's rivalry with Zangoose is so persistent that the scars visible on wild individuals are explicitly treated as evidence of repeated battles between the two species rather than ordinary injuries accumulated at random.

Seviper Size Comparison: BETA
Seviper is listed at 8' 10" (2.7 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Seviper currently uses a pose-adjusted visual scale.
