Ursaring Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Ursaring in a Playthrough
The Teddiursa line develops from a modest Normal-type into one of the strongest slow physical attackers available in modern games. Teddiursa evolves into Ursaring at level 30, gaining base 130 Attack and useful HP, while Guts or Quick Feet can reward status and strong Normal STAB such as Facade can turn Ursaring into an effective wallbreaker despite base 55 Speed. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Ursaring can evolve into Ursaluna when exposed to a Peat Block during a full moon, gaining Ground/Normal typing, base 140 Attack, 130 HP, 105 Defense, an Electric immunity, and powerful Ground STAB at the cost of becoming slightly slower. Ursaluna is exceptionally strong when it can use Guts alongside moves such as Facade and Headlong Rush or Earthquake, but weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ice, and Fighting and low Speed mean it often has to absorb damage before attacking. Bloodmoon Ursaluna is a separate unique individual rather than a normal evolution; where obtainable, it reverses the species' usual offensive profile with base 135 Special Attack, the Mind's Eye ability, and its signature special attack Blood Moon.
Ursaring in Competitive Pokémon
Ursaring was already a dangerous lower-tier wallbreaker before Ursaluna existed, using base 130 Attack and abilities such as Guts or Quick Feet to turn status into offensive momentum, but middling bulk and base 55 Speed limited its consistency against faster teams. Regular Ursaluna raises that concept to an extreme: base 140 Attack, huge physical bulk, Ground/Normal STAB, Flame Orb, Guts, Facade, and Headlong Rush combine to create a wallbreaker capable of overpowering even many dedicated physical walls. Its low Speed remains the main check on that power, encouraging bulky offense, Trick Room support, or strategies that accept trading Ursaluna for multiple opposing Pokemon. Bloodmoon Ursaluna is instead a special attacker with base 135 Special Attack, high physical Defense, Mind's Eye, and the extremely strong Blood Moon; this form proved powerful enough to be placed in Ubers in Smogon's Generation IX singles environment. The family therefore contains two elite modern wallbreakers that share Ground/Normal typing and low Speed but attack from opposite sides of the physical/special divide.
Ursaring in Nuzlockes
Teddiursa and Ursaring can be very strong Nuzlocke Pokemon because pure Normal typing is simple to plan around, providing a Ghost immunity and only a Fighting weakness while high Attack allows them to finish many neutral matchups quickly. Ursaring's mediocre Speed means it frequently takes a hit before attacking, so its offensive strength should not be confused with defensive safety, particularly against strong special attacks. If regular Ursaluna is obtainable, the enormous HP and physical Defense create a much larger margin for error while Ground typing adds an Electric immunity and valuable STAB, although Water, Grass, Ice, and Fighting attacks become clear dangers. Guts can make burns or poison offensively beneficial, but residual damage still matters in permadeath play and deliberately activating Guts should be weighed against the health lost between battles. Bloodmoon Ursaluna is normally a unique special encounter rather than an evolution from the player's Ursaring, but if a ruleset allows it, its bulk and enormous special offense make it exceptionally powerful despite the same low-Speed risk.

Ursaring Biology and Behavior
Ursaring inhabits mountainous forests, sleeping in treetops despite its heavy build and spending much of the day gathering fruit, Berries, and especially honey. Instead of delicately climbing for every piece of food, it may simply snap or shake trees and collect what falls, marking particularly productive trees within its territory with scratches from its claws. Its sense of smell is exceptionally sensitive and can locate food buried underground or hidden in streams, allowing Ursaring to continue foraging even during winter. Adults are fiercely protective of their cubs and can become more aggressive when hungry or during mating season, and conflicts with other foragers such as Primeape have been documented around valuable food sources. In the swampy environment of ancient Hisui, exposure to peat during a full moon can trigger evolution into Ursaluna.

Ursaring Size Comparison: BETA
Ursaring is listed at 5' 11" (1.8 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
