Arceus Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Arceus in a Playthrough
Arceus is a single-stage Mythical Pokemon with base 120 in every stat and the signature Ability Multitype, which changes its type to match the Plate it holds; from Generation VI onward this gives it access to all eighteen ordinary types, including Fairy. Judgment changes type alongside Arceus and therefore provides reliable special STAB regardless of the chosen Plate, while its enormous movepool also supports physical offense, Calm Mind, Swords Dance, Recover, Extreme Speed, Earthquake, coverage attacks, status, hazards, and defensive utility. Because every stat is equally high, Arceus can be built around almost any role, but the chosen type determines both its defensive matchups and which teammates it supports best; Normal Arceus is especially notable for powerful priority Extreme Speed, while Ground, Water, Fairy, Ghost, and Steel forms are among the many useful alternatives in different games and formats. Recover makes Arceus unusually forgiving for such a powerful attacker, and Plates cannot simply be removed from Arceus through ordinary item-manipulation effects while Multitype is functioning. Its greatest practical limitation is availability rather than battle strength: Arceus has historically been event- or postgame-gated, and in Pokémon Legends: Arceus it is only obtained after completing the enormous task of seeking out the other Pokemon of Hisui. Jolly, Timid, Adamant, Modest, Bold, or Calm can all be correct depending on the type and role because Arceus is one of the few Pokemon whose balanced stat spread genuinely supports almost every conventional nature choice.
Arceus in Competitive Pokémon
Arceus is one of the most influential Pokemon in the history of restricted competitive play because Multitype effectively creates eighteen separate versions of the same base-120-everywhere Pokemon, each with Recover, a huge support movepool, strong setup options, and type-matching Judgment. Its DPP history is unusually complicated: the only official Generation IV distributions were level 100, which interacted awkwardly with the generation's EV-training mechanics, and modern DPP tiering ultimately places Arceus above Ubers in Anything Goes rather than treating it as an ordinary Uber. From Generation V onward, however, one or more Arceus formes have routinely become foundational parts of Ubers teams, filling roles such as Extreme Speed cleaner, Calm Mind sweeper, Defogger, Stealth Rock setter, status spreader, stallbreaker, and defensive check. Normal Arceus became famous for Swords Dance plus Extreme Speed, while forms such as Ground, Water, Fairy, Ghost, Dark, Steel, and Poison have each developed distinct niches around their resistances and STAB. Modern SV Smogon still classifies Arceus in Ubers, and the fundamental reason has barely changed: 120 in every stat plus Recover and an enormous movepool would make almost any one of its type forms overwhelming in ordinary OU, while Multitype lets a team choose which version best solves its structural needs.
Arceus in Nuzlockes
If Mythical Pokemon are permitted, Arceus is arguably the safest single Pokemon a Nuzlocke can offer because 120 in every stat, Recover, and a freely selectable Plate type allow it to tailor both offense and defense to a planned boss fight. Multitype can turn dangerous attacks into resistances or immunities before the battle even begins, and Judgment supplies accurate STAB without forcing the player to rely on recoil, recharge turns, or inaccurate coverage. Extreme Speed is also exceptionally valuable under permadeath rules because priority can eliminate weakened opponents before they act, while Recover restores health without consuming an item. The main risk is complacency: no Arceus form is weakness-free, and choosing a type poorly can create new super-effective vulnerabilities even though the raw stats are enormous. Many Nuzlocke rulesets ban Mythical or creator-level Pokemon outright, and most games make Arceus inaccessible until very late, so its theoretical safety is more important than its practical availability in ordinary runs.

Arceus Biology and Behavior
Sinnoh mythology describes Arceus as the 'Original One,' born from an Egg that appeared in a place of complete chaos and nothingness before the universe existed. It is said to have shaped the universe with 1,000 arms and to have created the eggs from which Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf emerged. Arceus can alter its elemental nature through Plates, with Multitype changing its coloration and type to match the energy being used. Legends and later stories attribute powers far beyond ordinary combat to it, including creating or restoring matter, manipulating the laws of nature, and generating new members of the creation trio. The '1,000 arms' are not visible anatomical limbs on its ordinary body and remain part of the mythological description rather than an observed physical structure.

Arceus Size Comparison: BETA
Arceus is listed at 10' 6" (3.2 m) and shown in an in-chart visual comparison.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
