Uxie Playthrough, Competitive, and Nuzlocke Usage
Using Uxie in a Playthrough
Uxie is a single-stage Psychic Legendary whose 130 Defense and 130 Special Defense make it the defensive member of the lake trio, while base 95 Speed is unusually high for a Pokemon with that much mixed bulk. Levitate supplies a complete Ground immunity, and Psychic STAB is supplemented by an enormous utility movepool including Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Yawn, Reflect, Light Screen, U-turn, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot in modern games, Knock Off, and weather or Trick Room support depending on generation. Its base 75 attacking stats are modest for a Legendary, so Uxie is usually more effective enabling teammates or setting up over several turns than trying to immediately overpower neutral opponents. Bug, Dark, and Ghost attacks are its only ordinary type weaknesses, but the lack of reliable instant recovery in many generations means repeated neutral hits can still wear it down despite excellent defenses. Bold and Calm are natural defensive natures, while Timid can exploit its base 95 Speed on faster support or setup sets.
Uxie in Competitive Pokémon
Uxie was one of DPP UU's premier support Pokemon, where 75/130/130 bulk, base 95 Speed, Levitate, and an enormous support movepool allowed it to set Stealth Rock, spread Thunder Wave or Yawn, establish weather or screens, pivot with U-turn, and even sweep late-game with Calm Mind. Smogon described it as the quintessential support Pokemon of the tier, with the principal limitations being weak offensive stats, vulnerability to Pursuit and U-turn, and the absence of reliable recovery outside Rest. Uxie also maintained specialized DPP OU niches as a utility lead and bulky team supporter, competing with faster Azelf while offering far greater durability. Its role has remained recognizable even after substantial power creep: modern SV Smogon places Uxie in NU, where Knock Off, Encore, U-turn, Stealth Rock, Psychic Noise, and even Nasty Plot sets continue to exploit its role compression and exceptional bulk. Uxie's competitive identity is therefore remarkably stable across generations—it rarely wins through immediate damage, but repeatedly finds value as a difficult-to-remove facilitator whose Speed is much higher than most dedicated walls.
Uxie in Nuzlockes
If legendary Pokemon are permitted, Uxie is exceptionally safe in Nuzlockes because both defensive stats are 130, Levitate creates a Ground immunity, and base 95 Speed lets it use status or support before many ordinary opponents move. Thunder Wave, Yawn, Reflect, Light Screen, and U-turn can reduce risk for the entire team, while Psychic provides enough STAB damage to prevent Uxie from being completely passive. Its weaknesses to Bug, Dark, and Ghost must still be respected, especially because Pursuit in older games can punish attempts to switch and Uxie often lacks reliable recovery beyond Rest or later generation-specific tools. Memento and other self-sacrificial competitive strategies should usually be avoided entirely in a permadeath run even though they are strategically powerful in standard play. A Bold or Calm nature can make an already durable Pokemon even safer, but many Nuzlocke rulesets exclude legendaries, so Uxie's practical value ultimately depends first on whether the player's rules allow it.

A Pokémon feared but also respected for stealing away the memories of evildoers. I have found records that suggest Uxie holds dominion over knowledge.

Uxie Biology and Behavior
Uxie is the Lake Guardian of Lake Acuity and the mythological 'Being of Knowledge,' credited with giving humans the intelligence needed to solve problems, adapt, and improve their lives. It keeps its eyes permanently closed because legends claim that anyone who sees them open can have their memories erased, a power that makes Uxie both feared and respected and is sometimes described as punishment for evildoers. Its spirit can leave its physical body without killing it and later return, while Uxie can also teleport itself and others and communicate telepathically. Although shy, it reacts forcefully when itself or its companions are threatened. Together with Mesprit and Azelf, Uxie can contribute the material needed to create the Red Chain, destroy such a chain, and help calm an enraged Dialga or Palkia.

Uxie Size Comparison: BETA
Uxie is listed at 1' 0" (0.3 m); this chart uses a pose-adjusted visual scale because tails can extend beyond the main body silhouette.

How is visual size determined?
Pokédex height is treated as the official listed measurement, but the chart uses pose-aware visual scaling so each sprite looks reasonable in a direct comparison.
For long or coiled Pokémon, the listed height may represent total body length rather than upright height. For Pokémon with floppy ears, leaves, feathers, antennae, wings, or other flexible features, the chart usually measures to the top of the solid, substantial part of the head or body instead of the tallest decorative feature.
The goal is not to replace the official height, but to make the artwork compare naturally at the size it appears to occupy.
Uxie is currently tagged for tail.
